Bikkuriman World is an action/adventure game by Hudson Soft. The game is known in the west as Wonder Boy in Monsterland and is supposed to be the second episode of the Wonder Boy series. However, Hudson Soft slightly modified the original game and made it fit their Bikkuriman World franchise (read the info section). The player takes control of a young warrior on a journey to rescue his beloved girlfriend. One of the key element of the original game was to offer a clever mix of platform/action and Role Playing elements. At its core, Bikkuriman World is a side scrolling action game featuring a vitality bar that automatically decreases unless our hero eats fruits and vegetables. Our hero starts his journey with his underwear and his first task is to find a short sword (interestingly called 'Gradius') and a tiny shield. Not the best weapon to bash with, but enough to take down the small snakes and mushrooms wandering around the first area. Defeated enemies often drop coins that can later be used in shops to purchase new equipment. A handy magic potion can be picked up and used to refill the precious health bar but only one can be carried at the same time. Our warrior can also use magic spells and throw tornadoes, lightings and fireballs at his enemies. The game counts numerous areas with small villages, dungeons, caves and mean bosses waiting at the end of each one of them.

Dragon's Curseis the conversion of Sega's popular Wonderboy: Dragon's trap. The player starts the game as a human warrior racing through the narrow corridors of a castle. But during his 'final' fight against an evil and robotic dragon, things do not really go according to plans and our hero gets transformed into... a cute and brown dragon. The whole game is built around this curse and ends up being a long and perilous quest to find the Salamander Cross, and to ultimately change our friend back into his beloved human form. But it won't be easy, and the player soon finds himself transformed into a variety of other creatures along the way (Aquatic, Lizard, Mouse, Tiger and so forth) each featuring their own set of abilities and special powers. Defeated enemies often drop little red-hearts and coins, and these can be preciously collected to purchase new armors, more powerful sword or shields inside shops scattered throughout the game. Money can also help the player acquiring new magic spells (Fireball, Tornado, Arrow, Boomerang and Thunder). Finally, a simple password system is available to save the game's progress (although the backup ram can also be used).

Released only in Japan. This is an unofficial fan translation to English.
Monster World IV (often referred to as Wonder Boy VI) is widely held by fans as one of the Sega Genesis' finest titles. As a late entry in the Genesis' lineup it really shows the power of the system: brightly-colored visuals, multiple simultaneous layers of parallax, tight controls and quality sound effects all illustrate the Genesis' true potential.
You control Asha, the green-haired girlfriend of Shion, the hero of the previous game. One day, Asha was standing on a cliff near her home village, and suddenly heard a mysterious voice calling for help. She decided to leave the village and to embark on an adventure to discover the useridentity of this mysterious person.

The "Wonder Boy" in question is a character known as "Tom-Tom" - a caveman-like character whose girlfriend, by the name of Tanya, has been captured by a monster. The player must guide Tom-Tom through seven "areas", each consisting of four "rounds". The levels are made up of forests, hills, oceans, caves, ice palaces and occasionally mountains lands. The levels always run from left-to-right, with some vertical movement.
Tom-Tom can arm himself with a stone hammer, which he can throw at oncoming foes, a skateboard with which he can rush through the levels and survive one attack by an enemy, and temporary protection by a fairy which allows him to destroy foes by simply running into them. All of the aforementioned power-ups are obtained by breaking open eggs. These eggs can also contain unpleasant surprises - curses which cause Tom-Tom to lose vitality more quickly than usual, and poisonous mushrooms which reduce Tom-Tom's vitality in one go.
