The player controls a paperboy on a bicycle delivering newspapers along a suburban street which is displayed in a cabinet perspective view. The player attempts to deliver a week of daily newspapers to subscribing customers, attempts to vandalize non-subscribers' homes and must avoid hazards along the street. Subscribers are lost by missing a delivery or damaging a subscriber's house.

The game begins with a choice of difficulty levels: Easy Street, Middle Road and Hard Way. The object of the game is to perfectly deliver papers to subscribers for an entire week and avoid crashing (which counts as one of the player's lives) before the week ends.

Onto your bike and into the streets. Only super riding skills and a steady throwing arm can get you through a week of hilarious action. Avoid cars, workmen, drunkards and lawnmowers all out to stop you, and make the people you don't deliver to pay for their mistake.

Emulates the coin-op but looks a bit old now. Above all, though, it's very playable and is sure to challenge your skills.

Paperboy is a one or two-player game in which the objective is to deliver Newspapers to the Paperboy's customers from Monday through to Sunday.

Each game begins with ten customers and ten non-customers. Paperboy's customers live in the brightly coloured houses, while non-customers live in dark coloured houses. To deliver to a customer, the player must throw a paper either into the customer's mailbox, or onto their front porch. Failure to deliver a paper to a customer results in the loss of that customer for the next day. Any damage done to a customer's property also results in the loss of that customer. Losing all ten of Paperboy's customers will get him fired and the game is over. However, on any day in which all customers have their papers successfully delivered, one of the non-customers will re-subscribe.

Non-customers' houses and yards are loaded with targets at which to throw your extra papers (windows, lamps, statues, etc.). Hitting these targets earns points for the "Breakage Bonus", which is displayed at the top center of the screen. The total Breakage Bonus is awarded to the player at the end of each day (or at the end of the game-whichever comes first).

If Paperboy loses a customer, that customer's house will be dark coloured the next day. As a non-subscriber, this house now presents more targets at which to throw newspapers for building up the Breakage Bonus. At the start of each day, a map of Paperboy's route is displayed to indicate subscriber and non-subscriber houses. This helps to remind players of what customers they may have lost on the previous day and the location of remaining customers.

Paperboy can carry a maximum of ten papers at a time, but can restock his supply by riding over paper bundles placed here and there on his route. A paper supply indicator is displayed underneath the player's score.

While making his deliveries, Paperboy must avoid collisions with all stationary objects and other characters moving about the neighborhood. To avoid collisions, Paperboy can ride his bike anywhere - on the sidewalk, in the street, or into front yards. A collision with anything results in the loss of a life.

In addition to the obstacles, non-subscribers are hostile towards Paperboy and will attack him and try to knock him down. If Paperboy damages a subscriber's property, that character may also attack. So the more customers that are lost, the more hostile the neighborhood becomes toward Paperboy.

At the end of each delivery day, players have a chance to sharpen their skills by guiding Paperboy through the Paperboy Training Grounds. This obstacle course is filled with various targets at which to throw newspaper, as well as ramp jumps to be negotiated. This is a bonus round and no lives are lost for failing to reach the finish line.

Ride your trusty bike - loaded with tightly rolled newspapers - through a comical, ever-changing neighborhood. Score big points by tossing papers into subscribers' mailboxes and porches. Don't miss, 'cause you'll lose a customer for every bad throw. Now, for the real fun: score even bigger points by bombarding nonsubscribers' homes, taking out their windows, lamps and statues! But watch out for bad drivers, skateboarders, remote control cars and lots of other obstacles. They can ruin your day real fast. After work, take on the Training Course, a BMX-style bonus round that'll test your aim and riding skills to the max!

Paperboy 2 puts you in the role of newspaper delivery boy or girl. As you ride your bicycle through the various neighborhoods, you must throw newspapers in paperboxes situated in front of subscribers' homes, thereby renewing the occupants' subscriptions. To gain additional points, you can hassle garbage men, break non-subscribers' windows, water sunbathers and rescue runaway baby strollers. Also, you can throw newspapers at various people working or relaxing in their yards.

While riding your bike, trying to maintain and even increase your subscription rate, you must dodge cars and trucks and keep an eye out for projectiles thrown by denizens of the neighborhood. Other obstacles include gargoyles, ghosts, sewer monsters, gutters and street curbs. Unlike the original Paperboy, this game lets you throw papers on both sides of the street.

The three levels of play in this game are called weeks. Each week consists of 20 different houses. In addition to houses, you'll pedal past gas stations, markets, carnivals, parks, a mall and a car dealership. At the end of each level, you can play a bonus training course, which involves throwing newspapers at targets.

You're a paper boy. Get on your bicycle. Avoid obstacles on the road, such as dogs, cars, and basically everything you can imagine. Hell, some people shoot cannon balls at you! And you'd better be very sure to only throw papers at the right houses! (and at people, that's fun :)

No window is safe. No fence is too high. The paperboy is determined to deliver the paper to his subscribers... any way he can. Tossing papers left and right, riding in 3 directions, jumping anything that'll give air... this free-wheeling carrier visits more neighborhoods and houses, faces more targets and obstacles, and gets into more trouble than ever before!

Race your bike down the street, chucking newspapers at peoples' porches. Hit a burglar and make the news next day, hit a window and lose a subscriber. This is only a small taste of what the game is like.

This is one of the all-time gaming classics, both well thought out and well executed. It's worth at least the look, although the isometric perspective does take some adjustment.

Paperboy 2 plays a lot faster than it's predecessor and has loads more eye candy and hazards - you can also pick between paperboy or papergirl.
