You get 8 characters: Ken, Ryu, Blanka, Guile, Chun-Li, Sagat, Balrog, and Bison have made the cut. Strangely, Dhalsim's music is available during the sound test, but his character is missing.
It doesn't take long to realize that this is not the Street Fighter II everyone knows and loves. You have one punch and one kick, both of them being fierce hits. Combos only go as high as 2 hits so your famous 10 hitter won't be effective at all in this one. Each character only has 2 of their special moves meaning that Ken and Ryu's feared dragon punch is gone. You'll have to rely on the hurricane kick and fireball to pull through this one....when you can get 'em off.
The controls are, shall we say, "less than accurate." And that's being kind. If you actually manage to get a special off, it's a small miracle. Kicks, punches, blocking, and jumping come off well enough, so it makes little to no sense why they don't work.
Hit detection is shaky, but mostly accurate. Every 2 hits takes off life, regardless of what moves you hit your opponent with. Blocking special moves is pretty much a worthless endeavor since they take off just as much life whether your blocking or not. These flaws scream rush job, even though it was released in 1997 and it obviously didn't need to be.
Surprisingly, the graphics are great, outstanding even. The characters look strikingly similar to the it's Genesis counterpart and even animate well. The backgrounds have been butchered to make sure the characters look as they do, but the majority maintain enough of the charm the originals did. All background animation has been removed and usually only a few still background sprites remain. Check out "Capcom" written on the boat in Kens stage....it's backwards, simply a reversed sprite.
Packed inside this 8-meg cart is a ton of voice, but none of it during actual gameplay. The announcer spouts out the round, fighters, and the continue countdown. The music is the stuff classics are made of, but, uh, 8-bitized. A few have even been re-worked a bit to give them their own feel.
While this is not the version of the game to introduce non-SF fans too, the hardcore fans might find this an interesting diversion. That is of course, if they can live with the complete lack of combos and the impossible specials. Still, it's better than the Game Boy version and can be playable if you just accept the hardware it's running on. Competent, just not the game it used to be.

Story: The story is that an evil Bomber named Emperor Terrorin with the power of Time itself, has freed various criminal Bombers from their prisons in orbit around Planet Bomber. Setting them up in a warped time and space, Shirobon, Kurobon, and their Louie (Rui) companions must travel through stages and defeat them before going up against Emperor Terrorin himself.
Gameplay: The single-player portion of Super Bomberman 5 is nonlinear, giving players a choice of which level they'd like to complete next. These phases are all based on the four previous Super Bomberman games for the SNES, containing remixed music and the same sprites of the game, and the fifth phase is completely new. Depending on your path, you can accumulate 100% of completion. There are two endings available, depending on where you face the final boss.
After finishing 100%, the game map is reset, which allows player to finish the maps 200%. When completing 200% of the map, a new password is given.

A superb, abstract and humorous fighting game featuring miniaturized renditions from several Capcom fighting games; including the legendary "Street Fighter" series, as well as "Darkstalkers" and the little-known "Red Earthtake".
During a bout, players will be able to release colored gems from successful attacks against their opponent, as well as from wooden chests that regularly appear. Collecting these gems will 'power-up' the player's character, giving them more powerful attacks. There are 2 bars and 3 sub-bars in the interface. The 2 main bars are the life bar and the super bar; the first indicates the player's health and the second their ability to throw super combos. The Super Bar itself can be filled up to 9 levels, allowing players to execute more super combos. Each super combo has a level assigned to it, and it uses Super Bars depending on it.

The most popular American football game to hit the NES console, Tecmo Bowl pits the player vs. the computer in 11 game single-elimination playoff action, or you can go head-to-head with a human opponent in action or coach mode. There are 12 teams of real NFL players (circa 1997) to choose from, but don't look for official NFL team logos or mascots like Bears or Dolphins--Tecmo Bowl has the NFLPA but not the NFL license.
The play perspective is top-down and the screen scrolls horizontally. Player graphics are large and colorful, which is made possible by limiting the number of players to nine per team. Animated cut-scenes are shown following touchdowns and at half-time, and crowds are shown filling the endzone seats.
There are four plays to choose from on offense--usually two runs and two passes. The player takes control of the quarterback before the snap and then either hands off to the running back or works through his receiver progression from the top to the bottom of the screen. Defense consists of trying to guess which offensive play the opponent will select and then taking control of one of the defensive players before the snap. A very simple power meter system is used for kicking field goals, extra points, and punts.
There are no game or season stats and there is no way to save your season, but there is a password feature allowing you to resume tournament play where you left off.

A high-end tennis sim set in a`digital rendition of the world-famous courts of England's Wimbledon.
This is the one of the best tennis sims ever made for the G/MD. Others may better it in one or two areas, but they can't touch it as a whole. The graphics are good if not spectacular, the animation is fluid, and the sound and gameplay are just about unmatched. If you can get only one tennis sim for your Genesis, get this one and forget the rest.

Sega's in-house baseball sim is every bit the equal of its competition from Electronic Arts. The sound and solid gameplay were there from the beginning, and the only things that really changed over the series were the team rosters and minor tweaking of the graphics and game AI. Any one makes an excellent alternative if you can find any of EA's Triple Play series.
World Series Baseball 98 was one of the last games commercially released for the Genesis.
