The classic military strategy game of world conquest - now with all the excitement of a video game. You're the general - defend your countries, capture new territories, occupy vast continents, and keep building your armies so you can conquer the world!

Intriguing, to say the least. The modest but eye-catching enhancements seem to be sufficient enough to catch your attention and draw you into the game, whereas the game's fundamental structure and strategic play remain intact. One of the better board game conversions available for the Genesis.

KOEI's most succesful series: Romance of the Three Kingdoms (RTK) was first introduced by this game. Based on the historical Chinese legend or commonly known to the Chinese as 'Sam Kok', you take command of one of the many warlords rivaling for control after the Yellow Turban Rebellion.

The game however introduces the legend from the Japanese point of view, as many of the names of the generals and heroes in this game are spoken in the Japanese way rather than with the Chinese language.

A magnificent strategy/RPG game that introduces hundreds of historically real characters of the Sam Kok era. The main purpose of the game is to be supreme ruler of the remnants of the falling Han Dynasty. To do this you have to build a mighty empire by conquering provinces and recruiting generals worthy of command. Fight massive battles, triumph over natural disasters and capture the enemy stronghold is the name of the game. In the end, can you unite China?

Romance Of The Three Kingdoms II, AKA Sangokushi II, is the second in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series of turn-based strategy games produced by Koei and based on the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Upon starting the game, players choose from one of six scenarios that determine the initial layout of power in ancient China. The scenarios loosely depict allegiances and territories controlled by the warlords as according to the novel, although gameplay does not follow events in the novel after the game begins.

After choosing the scenario, players determine which warlord(s) they will control. Custom characters may be inserted into territories unoccupied by other forces, as well. A total of 41 different provinces exist, as well as over 200 unique characters. Each character has three statistics, which range from 10 to 100 (the higher the better). A warlord's Intelligence, War Ability and Charm influence how successful he or she will be when performing certain tasks, such as dueling or increasing land value in a province.

The player wins the game by conquering all territories in China. This is accomplished by being in control of every province on the map.

One of Koei's highly-regarded series of historical strategy sims about the long and laborious process involved in China's transition from an amalgam of warring feudal states into a unified country. You assume the role of one of the principal warlords involved in the "unification" process.

This series is every bit as good as the Nobunaga Trilogy, so it's a must for strategy types. Graphics and sound are only fair, but it's the Risk-style gameplay where it shines.

The sequel to Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The game concept is still the same, though they did improve a lot of features that one may consider 'disturbing' from RTK I (e.g. Generals dying easily due to disease, etc.). RTK can be said to be much more 'stable' where players no longer have to worry that much about time length in the game, as the game take a slower time rate to allow the players to build up their forces without much interference. The RTK II gameplay and interface is closely similar to Nobunaga's Ambition II.

SD Gundam Winning History is an unusual game. It's like a strategy game in that you have various units you move around to attack your foes. However, when you actually engage your foes, the game switches to a side-view action style game, where you fly around the battlefield and attempt to shoot your opponent into smithereens. Which would seem to kind of eliminate the whole strategy part.

This tie-in actually missed the 25th Anniversary of Star Trek's TV debut by at least two years, but it uses the original series' characters and settings. You start the game from the USS Enterprise, exploring space in search of adventure. When on board the ship you have full control over its destination, and any combat which arises from entering hostile space. You can communicate with other ships, and order repairs for the Enterprise when required.

The adventuring bulk of the game comes in the form of many Away Team missions, in which you beam down to the surface of a planet and explore. These play in point and click style, with the userideal goal being to complete them non-violently. However, your performance is rated based on how many extra discoveries and advances you make, and how you interact with the mysterious alien races, so there's value in exploring the surroundings (which look much like they do in the TV series) in further detail.

The players take the role of Starfleet cadets. The cadets are asked to participate in a U.S.S Enterprise-D simulation. Taking the place of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, they must embark on a series of mission-based goals and perform many tasks (in the form of mini-games) such as diverting power to shields, Transporter Systems, Navigation, Tactical, and more.

As the player successfully completes missions, they gain rank. Starting the game as an Ensign, the player can be promoted to Lieutenant, Lt. commander, Commander, and finally Captain. Each rank has a specific password the player can input to resume the game at whatever rank the player had previously achieved. Combat missions involve fighting enemies of varying strengths and numbers, with Talarians being the weakest and renegade Klingons being the most difficult (except for the Borg, who only appear in one mission).

War may be hell in real life, but now you can simulate the horrors of military conflict from the safety and comfort of your own home with Super Conflict for the Super NES. You take control of your own land, air and sea military forces. Units include fighters, bombers, helicopters, tanks, anti-aircraft, anti-tank, infantry commandos, destroyers, submarines, cruisers, battleships, and aircraft carriers. You must determine which units should battle and when.

In the one-player game, you wage war against the computer through 5 skill levels and 55 different scenarios. In the two-player head-to-head mode, which consists of 16 scenarios, player one commands Blue forces while player two commands Red forces. While two-player games cannot be saved, battery backup allows you to save one-player progress after shutting down your game system.

The overall goals in this game are to accumulate production points and destroy the opposing side's Flag Unit, which functions similarly to the King in chess. In levels 1-4, the Flag Unit is a tank. In level five, there is also a Flag Ship. The various scenario maps (game boards) are divided into hexagons, which have different colors and textures representing different types of terrain: plains, dessert, hills, woods, mountains, sea, bridge, city, airport and factory. Different types of terrain affect each player's defenses and mobility. Cities, airports and shipyards can be used to re-supply units and repair damages.

Super Conflict offers two basic types of play: Short and Long. Short focuses on strategic elements of play (the computer automatically decides outcome based on variables involved), while Long lets you take full control of units during up to four rounds of action for each battle.
