Re: Fighting Game Franchises
DOA. I used to play DOA2 a lot on the Dreamcast & I played my nephews DOA3 on his X-Box. imo, it's the most realistic fighting game series on the planet. The Soul Edge/ Calibur series ranks a close second.

Re: Fighting Game Franchises
I voted Tekken. Mainly because it takes alot of skill and practice to be good at it. No offense to the other games I just think Tekken is close to perfect.

I'll pick the SF series. Even though I don't like fighters anymore, when I use to the SFII series was my favorite.

Re: Fighting Game Franchises
I really don't like fighting games at all, besides Smash Bros. I guess I haven't really played many other fighting games, but out of the ones that I have, SSB is the only one that keeps me interested (and not throwing my controller down in frustration after playing it).

Re: Fighting Game Franchises
I would have to say the SF games for the game play
but overall I would say soul caliber just because its better graphics obviously and more moves.
I mean come on you play M bison in SF and he has what 2 punches high low 2 kicks high low and like 2 special moves dart at you like an arrow and jump on your head.

Re: Fighting Game Franchises
Agreed. It is a Tetris style puzzle game, & you get to play as a Street Fighter or a Darkstalker. What more do you want from a game?

Exaggerating a bit there. There's a quick, medium, and hard punch and kick button. Depending on if you press the directional pad and in what direction they do different moves. I'd guess each character has about 20 moves total.

Re: Fighting Game Franchises
Yeah don't talk bad about Street Fighter. That game made fighting games as popular as they are today. It may have a limited amount of moves but that doesn't matter when the game is basically flawless.
Besides, all the other games may have more moves but that doesn't mean people use them all.
Trust me, I play alot of fighting games, the majority of players only use the 5-10 moves they feel secure about winning with.
Soul Caliber is one of the worst offenders. Ever play it online? Most people just spam the huge almost unblockable moves until they win or get you to ring out. At least with SF if someone starts spamming a move a skilled player can just counter and break them. Soul Caliber it's pretty hard to recover from moves that leave you pinned down and blocking.
Not to single out SC, I do love it. It's just annoying as hell to play online for the most part. I'm sure Tekken is just as bad.
Btw, I'd like to change my vote. While Tekken is pure awesome I'd like to nominate a underrated game instead.
BLOODY ROAR. I enjoyed that game more than any other fighting game. If you haven't tried it and you're a fan of fighting games I suggest you do. But only the first and second games, after that it went to crap.

Oh, come on guys! He isn't that hard to beat. You just got to take to the air alot. Two scenarios: 1) You'll counter his jumping kicks with some of your own. The success of that depends on which fighter you're using. 2) When he goes to cheap-stuff Psycho Crusher and you're in the air, you'll dodge the move.
I maybe just a intermediate gamer, but against Bison, I RULE. PERIOD! THE END! DONE!

Re: Fighting Game Franchises
That's why Chun Li's my girl.
Double jump owns everything Bison throws at you. If he tries his far reach superman jump punch combo Li's in air foward mid-kick has the reach to hit first. Or if you get behind him you can foward strong-punch to do a mid-air throw. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Then when he goes into his Psycho Crusher/Widowmaker combo Chun Li shines even more so. Her in air down quick-kick can hit him (and Blanka's electric Shield) without taking damage. Followed by a rebound backflip, strong sweep and a lightning kick as he tries to get up.
Can you smell the Double Perfect in the air?

Re: Fighting Game Franchises
I vote Tekken, you can understand them right away, but it takes a long time to fully master, and there is great balance and yet the characters all feel different.
