"My mind is my weapon. My brother has his sword, King Robert has his warhammer and I have my mind... and a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge. That’s why I read so much, Jon Snow."
Oh yeah, I missed the start of it, and was checking the awards and the power went out. I had heard that Splatton won but I Wanst confident in the source.
That's REALLY cool if Splatoon did win. My 3 year old just before bed puts on Splatoon promo vids, strips naked and dances her ass off.
Just like last year's, it was quite forgettable overall. I never bothered to research Her Story until watching the show, but now I'm considering getting it. Of course, I feel the Iwata tribute was a good gesture.
Out of curiosity, what do you think should have been mentioned?
No idea but I'm more bothered by the best multiplayer thing. How can it be considered the best MP game if it's on the system with the lowest user base and arguably the worst MP set up? It really just seems like PC games were largely ignored.

You honestly think I have a WiiU or know anyone that does? I've seen gameplay of it and it doesn't look very impressive. I don't even like racing or soccer but I think RocketLeague should've been the obvious winner.

I don't think they take the hardware into consideration. Also, Splatoon has developed a large Twitch culture. It's often in the top 10 of ALL games being streamed on the service.
It's hard to see how they ignored the PC. All of those categories have between 2-5 games that are on Steam.

Yeah but I'm not counting multiplatform games. Without double checking I think there's only two PC only games on there. It doesn't matter because these awards don't matter but it just seemed to jump out at me when I looked at the list.
Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, and Halo 5 are the only platform exclusive games on the list. There are no PC only games on the list. Nor are there any PS4 exclusive games on the list.
Everything else is either on the PS4 and PC or the XBone and PC.
I don't think the factor in hardware exclusivity when creating the list. The list for the VGAs is created by games media journalists and critics, btw.

There just weren't that many big name PC exclusives this year. The newest iteration of consoles is a fresh one, people want to put games on those systems.

Splatoon is one of the games I saw on the Nintendo Championships, and I said it looks like a Mario Party mini - game.
This is that game I was talking about, called 'Stamp Out!':
Sure the gameplay is a bit different, the maps are larger and have different levels, and the graphics are better but I still think this is where Splatoon came from.
For some reason when I brought this up before people got offended.
I'm just calling it like I see it.
As if you played all the games you've trashed over the years. Get real bro. I'm just posting my opinion about the game it's not a big deal.
I picked up Splatoon about a week ago, and I must say the multiplayer is phenomenal. I wouldn't think that it would have gotten the nod for best shooter, since there are other games that focus on that aspect more strongly, but the multiplayer is awesome.
In a nutshell, you are probably doing one of 3 things: splatting, engaging in combat, and hiding/filling up your ink. It's got a lot of RPG style elements too, a huge amount of different equipment and ability upgrades. All the different guns, bombs, sheilds, airstrikes etc... are all very different in their function. There is basically an infinite amount of playstyles, you really do just make your own. Very cool game.

I really think it got it because of all the hype. It does look well made and different but it doesn't look like something most FPS fans will obsess over. Either way more variety in the genre is a great thing.

It's kinda the same as how Mario Kart is put in with racing games. They are both exceptional games, but they don't hit all the traditional notes (and of course add a bunch) gamers have come to expect from their respective genres, yet it would be unfair to exclude them. Rather than take how well each game performs at the tasks that encompass the genre, they just happen to be really great games that fall under the banner, though in my opinion it's a stretch to call Splatoon a (new wave) shooter at all.
