Welp, please for the love of everything that is right, let Perron and Hemsky be in the lineup tonight. We're already down Nuge & Gagner, and that's bad enough. Man if we can just stay competitive through this. Screw Vancouver for putting us through this. I hope the oilers fight them like mad on Saturday so they stop this crap. One of the only times I'm going to wish for fights-a-plentiful.

Friday is the first Islanders game of the season! We play the Devils. Nelson, Griffin, and Donovan made the team, so I'm excited to see them play.

FYI Cam, Strome didn't make the team, though I expect to see him in the NHL at some point this season.

Yeah, I missed the Oilers Jets intro in favour of the Maple Leafs/Canadiens game. Kind of sucks.

I dropped Strome Chris, and Picked up Bernier. Unfortunately I benched Bernier yesterday thinking San Jose played instead of the Leafs.

My only Oiler got me points though, on this beauty as well as an assist:

Isles won their opener last night! They played on the road against the Devils. We won 4-3 in a shootout. The Isles home opener is tonight against Columbus. The offense looked ok, the first line was not good, but the 2nd-4th lines played well, especially Grabner's line. Grabner scored 2 goals on two breakaways and Frans Nielsen also scored. The defense didn't look that great, Nabakov was ok, but he made some great saves in OT and the Shootout

Hopefully tonight the first line looks better and they get on the board. Offense will have to pull through, Columbus has a really good goalie.

Hawks are 1-0 with game 2 tonight.

What are your thoughts on the rule changes?

-Hybrid icing seems dumb as it doesn't eliminate the dangerous races to the puck, as if it's close they allow the race to continue anyways
-The decrease in net depth and goalie pads I don't think will make an impactful difference at all
-All players under a certain number of games being required to wear a visor I don't think makes a difference as it's required in the AHL and they all grow up wearing them anyways.
-The extra 2 minutes for taking off your helmet for a fight will be useless as there already seems to be an agreement with the fighters in the NHL that if one guy takes off the helmet to scrap, the other guy will too.

In regards to rules, Hybrid Icing I can live with, I can see the risk decrease in races, and that's all I'm looking at currently. Still a weird rule, but after the Fedun incident 2 years ago, I'll live with it.

2 minutes for removing the helmet while fighting, flatout stupid. Players that fight are taking the risks. That should be enough.

I love the new nets so far. Provides more ways to score than before with wrap-arounds making more of a return, and just the extra space is good. Changes up the offensive zone a bit.

Visors... Whatever. I'm okay with it.

I'll be watching some Isles games this year Chris if I get center ice. Hasn't worked out yet since I have worked.

Nice night to have Vrbata the other night in my fantasy league. :P

Sigh, Isles blew the third period lead, gave up 2 goals in 4 and a half minutes. Then we lost in the shootout. We had so many good opportunities we didn't cash in. Played so well in the 2nd only to come out and play like crap in the 3rd. On the bright side we did get a point.

Why we struggle so much in the 3rd period I don't know. Maybe because its a young team? I don't know why but this has been happening for years now. Nabakov looked fantastic in the first 2 periods and then absolutely awful in the 3rd. Isles weakest link is goalie.

Try coming out strong in 2 minutes, like super strong, then having a shorthanded goal just kill the momentum for the next 50 minutes until they finally decide to try again near the end of the third down 5-2.

Yeah, that game sucked :-/

Watched Carolina & Philliy today though, that was a really good game, and I think my hunch with Carolina being a playoff team this year may be right.

I'm really looking forward to this game to see where we stand to the best in the league. Hoping my guys bring it and at the very least show a really good effort. Both teams have Wednesday off too so they should be rested.

Down 3-0 Oil played horrendously again. That is until the last period where they scored 4 goals in 10 minutes! Wow man, please can the Oilers play like they did in that 3rd period all season? They weren't themselves in the first 8 periods of the season. Consistency.

A bad bounce led to New Jersey tying it again, but the Oilers won in a shootout.

Isles offense is rolling. We are up 4-1 with a few minutes in the second. Matt Donovan scored his first NHL goal and Tavares has two so far.

We've gotten a few lucky breaks, and the Blackhawks defense is a lot better than the Coyotes, but if we play like this every night, we should win the majority of the games. Problem is no team can keep up a 5 goal a game pace lol.

5-1 after 2 periods. A scoreless third period would be fine by me lol. Please no drama!

Also, did you see Roy flip his crap last game? Something about him always bothered me when he was a player, and as a coach he's a complete tool.

Yeah, I know his best young player got taken out with a knee on knee hit, but his reaction was still bush league at best, though not surprising from all the crap he pulled while coaching in juniors.

A very satisfying 6-1 wins for the Isles. Good to build some confidence at home, where we really struggled most of the time last year. Friday is going to be fun, hopefully we put up a good fight.

excessive for Roy, but I hate dirty players going for knee-on-knees and elbows as well. I get pretty upset by that myself. That's not to say anything near Roy level, I keep it to thoughts and words to a much lesser extent :P Still not a fan of the hits. Won't diminish Roy for it, for now anyways.

My eastern draft picks doing well. Thank you Tavares. Staal as well coming back to his form. Could say the same about Cam Ward. Stats are deceiving. He was phenomenal. I'll have to get a video of the flurry of saves that he made.

Hawks already up 1-0. Offense has been atrocious. Hawks' goalie got caught behind the net and Grabner missed a wide open net from a few feet away.

It's 3-2 Hawks now. Islanders defense has been horrendous tonight. Poor Poulin is actually playing good but he's getting no help from his defense.

Well that was disgusting. Bad offense and even worse defense. We need to make a trade for a high end defensemen because Brian Strait and co. are not going to take us very far. We were lucky that Poulin was very sharp tonight and the score was 3-2.

Forgot to edit my fantasy team for today. Check work, and the now benched Cam Ward is phenomenal... Yay, need to remember to dress them. All that messed up really was missing out on Dupuis, Carter and Ward. Only ward did a lot but still.
