Anyone here doing it or going to school for it? I'm midway through my first class, it's pretty cool, were going to texture a character now.

It's actually a professional illustration course, just one of my classes is game development. Were just learning the side of things that relate to drawing I guess.
We didn't end up texturing anything, but he showed us the process. Should be a fun class.

Not really the same thing, but I am going to audio production school in the fall in Minneapolis, and I have been told that a lot of graduates get hired on by Activision since they are close by.

One day maybe we'll be qualified to make a game together. Haha.

that makes more sense. I was going to say day 1 and they are teaching you textureing they are skipping a lot of needed information

First time I ever texture mapped something was in dos, making a custom dude for my quake one guy (1996-97). I was using D-Paint(Deluxe paint) which was an in house drawing program made by EA (later released) used to make sprites. Surprisingly enough the process is pretty much still the same.
