Sakaguchi is the original brains behind the Final Fantasy series.

He directed FFI - FFV.

He produced, character designed, and supervised the director of FFVI & FFVII.

Being fed up with the direction Squeenix was taking the FF series he left after FFX and helped start a little company called Mistwalker. What will be their first game? An RPG of course.

So the brains behind the better part of the Final Fantasy series goes on his own to create a new RPG, and to boot he titles it The Last Story. I am hoping beyond hope this is Sakaguchi kneeing Squeenix in the testes to show them how a real RPG is made.

Dude, you cant lump square and enix like that, square went nuts and ruined the final fantasy series, but enix has'nt ruined dragon quest, still has the same charm as the originals. (they almost ruined it though, they were gonna release 9 as a action adventure game but the japanese fans damn near took over the studio about it so they listened to the masses.)
I do love the title of the game, any screenies out?

It should get some great PR since it's a 2nd party game, meaning it's trademarked and funded by Nintendo.

There's an article on 1up.com about how Hironobu Sakaguchi got taken out of directing Final Fantasy games.

I find it interesting how Japanese companies deal with failures......the same thing happened at Nintendo with Gunpei Yokoi (creator of Gameboy) after his failure with the Virtual Boy, he left as that company as well. Too bad he got killed in a car accident, who know's what he'd be working on now =/.

Lifetimes of success, all forgotten in the blink of an eye after one misstep. Sad.

Why Galaxy? Besides Mario 64 most of his star/sprite collecting games I've hated. Galaxy included, I didn't even bother playing it right, my bro did all the collecting work, I just beat Bowser at the end.

I gotta check out Glyde.

Glyde is a site where people buy and sell used games. What makes Glyde different from ebay?
1. Glyde sets the prices at current market value.
2. It's free to post games. Games stay posted until they sell or the seller takes them down.

3. (This is the big one for me). Glyde completely controls the transaction. When you buy something you send your money to Glyde. Glyde holds on to the cash and sends the seller a pe-addressed/postage paid envelope. Glyde then tracks the package to your address. After 48hrs or the buyer tells Glyde they are happy, Glyde then forwards the payment to the seller.

It's nice because sellers normally get a lot more than they would at Gamestop. Also used games are usually cheaper as well. Gamestop will give you $15 store credit and turn around and sell it for $40. Same game at Glyde would earn the seller $25 (cash not store credit) and sell for $30.

Sweet, I did take a look at it yesterday, they had a First Edition Pokemon Adventures on there. I agree with #3 being the big one on there.. guess it's time to look for more games~

Makes it REALLY easy to sell as well. I wish they hosted older games as well. I have a bunch of duplicates I'd love to pawn off. I'm guessing the collector's market is too unstable to price things efficiently enough for the site.

Btw I wanna comment about Mario Galaxy since Tails mentioned it. I personally didn't like playing it but I know many people who love it. From watching other people play it I can say it's a solid Mario game and it's unique. At least it's not the standard side scrolling platformer, gotta give Nintendo credit for that.

An email to me set expectations that the total time could be 10 days or more from sale to the receipt of goods and the deposit of funds.

Well, today at 5:10 p.m., my buyer notified Glyde he got his game and its condition was as I described, so $30.25 (my sale price, less a 10 percent cut to Glyde and the cost of the packaging) was deposited into my checking account. That's roughly eight days from the instant the guy clicked buy. Remember also that Monday (President's Day), the U.S. Postal Service did not deliver, so I was waiting until Tuesday to get my packaging. And there was a Sunday included in the span, too.

Helping the situation was my buyer's very timely responsiveness. Glyde asks buyers to check in as soon as they get their shipment - which Glyde can track because it buys the postage and also a tracking number for it. If a buyer is silent for 48 hours, the funds are released to the seller automatically.

But also consider that all this took place on the west coast. Glyde sent me the shipping material from Palo Alto, Calif. I'm in Eugene, Ore. The recipient is in southern California. Further, the funds are released to your account held on Glyde's Web site, not your bank. You must initiate a transfer (which can take another couple of days) or elect to have a paper check mailed to get at your cash. Or you can keep it on the site and use it to buy other used games down the line.

I circled back with Glyde's CEO, Simon Rothman, to ask if he had plans for optimizing Glyde's shipping model going forward. Right now, "Generally it takes about a week from hitting the buy button to item arriving at the buyer's doorstep," he said.

Glyde's working to cut that down, with plans to develop mailer shipping hubs to speed up the front end of this process. Also, "as we increase our user base sellers will be closer to buyers. And we will strategically add mailer distribution points," Rothman told me. "The goal is to make our transactions as fast as possible. There is a path to shortening the total time to as few as three to four days."

Prices for Demon's Souls on Half.com are right now going higher than what I cleared but the process is borne entirely by the seller, with a cut going back to Half. You also get paid once a month there. I'm also pretty sure I wouldn't have cleared $30 for this at Game Crazy or GameStop.

I'm not suggesting that, with Glyde, I wrung every last possible cent out of this game. Nor am I saying this was no different than handing over a game to a buyer and getting a fistful of cash on the spot. But the effort required of me absolutely was minimal compared to any other resale method.

Yeah, you can't just assume. Their fair market value fluctuates between the going rate of games, the number of copies they have for sale, and how frequently they're sold.

I just bought House of the Dead: Overkill today for $16.34 It said to expect delivery on 3/2/10. I'll let you know how it goes.
