Buying a Sega Saturn
I've already been talking to WB about this enough for the past 8 months that I've been waiting to buy this thing. I finally got a set date by my parents that we will go to the two pawn shops on Tuesday, this tuesday yes. I've attempted a few times to go hunt down other consoles the last two times I go, but the Saturn is what I really want next now. I've been saving up for the past month, I have 152 dollars now. The one shop has a deal on a Saturn with 2 controllers for 75 bucks. That leaves me with about 80 bucks. I'm just curious to know if anybody would know the costs of a few accesories ballpark, this is the supplies that I'm looking at:
Analog controller ( I don't need it, but it would be nice to have)
Official Sega brand memory Cart
Third party Memory Cart
Action replay (To play import or burned games easily)
Gameshark (I might get one)
I've heard that the third party memory carts are unreliable, so if you could confirm that for me, it would be cool.
Some games that I'd like to know about too:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Thats all that I can think of. If you can provide feedback on the accesories listed or the games, then please do so. I provided boxshots to help out.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
Sonic R is fun and all, but if it's not 5 bucks or less, do not buy. I completed the whole game in under 30 minutes, collecting all Chaos Emeralds too.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
They are all 20$ I will buy a few, the rest I will burn. My oulook btw is PS1=Suck and Saturn=Awesome. I had a Saturn before.
@Tails, I've played Sonic R on a GC game years ago. I remember it being awesome, I tend to replay games a lot anyways.

Think what you want but the PS1 is undeniably a much better system. Maybe if the saturn lasted longer it would've been cooler but that didn't happen. Why would you like it better than a system that has thousands of great games?

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
I played the Saturn and it seemed cool enough but it didn't have any games I was interested in. The PS1 and PS2 are just monsters when it comes to library and diversity.
I know cam says he likes to collect retro stuff and that's understandable, I'm just sticking up for the PS1. I loved mine and I played so many great games on it. It's not a fair comparison at all really.

If it's not too late I suggest ebay instead of pawn shop. You will save money and get more games and more to choose from. Pawn shops are so 2003.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
I know kong, but I don't know how many times I have to say that I can't buy stuff over the internet.
The Saturn is 75 bucks with 2 controllers capri, I said I've saved up 152 bucks (160 now).
DB, I never got into PS1 or PS2. I hate sony's guts, so it is probably more of a personal grudge, but I still don't like the PS1. I can get most of it's good games on PC, like Red Alert. If I wanted a ps1 or a ps2, I'd buy one, I already have a PS1. I got bored of it right away, mainly because it doesn't work right. Gotta love consoles with malfunctions (mine just lags terribly). As for PS2, I pawned it for Genesis games a while back even though my bro pawned them too...
One last note, Saturn was most popular in Japan. So, I'm not the only one

I personally have never played a Saturn. What is it, like the same generation as ps1?

Correct, same with the N64.
@Cam: Just get the GCN version, you get more games with it.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
Cam, I forgot your reasons but you don't have to be a certain age to do it. Go to any bank, say you want a free checking account. Deposit your money. You will get a check book. With that you can start a paypal account. And with the checks or paypal you can buy stuff on ebay and with ebay you can afford 3 times as much as you could at the pawn shop and have a bigger selection.

Is the multiplayer as good? If it is, I might look into trying to find one on eBay.

I know someone mentioned this elsewhere before, they said it was only a USA thing, and it wasn't available in Canada...
Wait, so I already store all my money in a "Checking" account, I know there is checkings and savings. SO if this is the case, then I can already use Ebay?

Yeah, it came out months before the PS1 did. It's known for it's fighting games, but generally not too, too much for multiplayer, but I'd still check into it. Like PS1, there is only 2 controller ports.

...Oh, you mean Sonic Gems? I'm someone who prefers to have the real deal, the main reason I'm getting the Saturn, is so I can have theme park back. It's the best version I've found. If I can burn games too, I may as well get it that way. I picked up two blank Cds today for testing when I get my Saturn on Tuesday.

What's wrong with pawn shops, I got a PS2 for like $30. I also like the feel of pawn shops and I like to look at the guns.

But the ones with guns are so much more interesting, and you get to see the red-necks and creepy people who buy guns without licenses.

This is Canada, guns are only legal if you pack them away in your house and never use them, only cops get guns.

Re: Buying a Sega Saturn
Kind of steep for a saturn. If you are straped for cash no job, I'd say wait on it and invest in something better. I have a saturn, it's a great system, but honestly I'm not using it like I used too because thee are other comparable things out there. A lot of the games worth playing on it have been ported over to other piratable things. Save your money, invest it in something wiser.
Saturn has internal memory, it's more then enough for a lot of games. The memory card is cool, but you can get one that adds extra ram so you can play cap vs marvel and inter change partners.
Ok
Here is the poormans guide to getting awesome saturn games for free
Galactic Attack was released in the arcade as Raystorm or something like that, get it on mame
Xmen Children of the atom sucks on PSX (anything 2-d was better on sat) but you can also get that on mame
Gaurdian Heros was released on a bunch of other things
Duke 3d on sat is really hard to control, it was awesome at the time because I DIDNT HVE MY OWN COMPUTER lol. Get the open gl version of duke.
BUG ain't that great
Virtual Cop 2 was released on PC you can get it somewhere on the net
Dragon Force was re-released on PSX , check the IRC etc
Basically a lot of the good game son it you can find for free somewheres else.
Things that yo may be missing out on
Panzer Dragoon 2, most epic awesome game ever, top 30 in my book
Alpha 2 is mad on this machine, freaking runs the best better then any other platform
Daytona, cause the audio tracks are in CD format and it's a great prank to blast this late at night (if anyone knows the music they'll get the joke).
Oh yeah fighters megamix was AWESOME when it came out cause you could use some VF3 moves in it, but hey all that stuff is old now so that's like buying tobel no 5 to get a ff7 demo in 2010. Makes no sense.
Save your coinage little duder and buy something cool like a PS3 with God of War Collections ;D
