The Tonight Show
O'Brien: Moving 'Tonight' for Leno would be 'its destruction' - CNN.com
Yeah it's not important news but I'm sure some of you like at least one of the three involved - Leno, Conan or The Tonight Show.
I didn't care much at first because I'm not a fan of talk shows in general besides Conan when I happened to catch it. Then they said they might push Conans Tonight Show back a half hour to accommodate Leno(they canceled his new show the other day). Now to me that's unfair and completely desperate. Like the article says the tonight show has been on at the same time for about 60 years and now they want to push it back to 12:05AM. Like Conan pointed out, that's not tonight that's tomorrow.
He wrote an awesome letter to the public explaining the crap they're dealing him and how he feels about it. He's funny as always but he's also surprisingly classy despite the circumstances. It's worth reading, if you got this far into my post you might as well
Conan releases statement on late-night situation – The Marquee Blog - CNN.com Blogs
So yeah it's not important but it's notable. The Tonight Show is an establishment and they want to mess with it to prop up Leno. /Facepalm

Re: The Tonight Show
The network asked Leno to step down origanally to let the 'other' guy come up, he did.
Then they asked him to do another show, he did.
They moved his time slot a bunch to try and make the show work.
He still went to work everyday with out an attitude.
He still gets a bunch of money even from the cancellation.
I read this somewhere now I can't find the link.

Re: The Tonight Show
I have never been a fan of Conan. The only sketch he has done that I have thought was funny was "The year 3000" skits. Other than that he's very obnoxious to me. I was a little upset when Leno stepped down from the Tonight Show, I accepted when Johnny (for those who are too young to know I'm speaking of Carson) left.
That being said, NBC has dropped the ball. They screwed up and now they are running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. They were number 1 for late night with really no competition. "Let's change this up." I bet there is some executive who lost his/her job tat mentioned this.
Side note: I watched the first Conan-Tonight Show just to see what it would be like. That was the only time I ever watched it. I then went to Letterman the next day. The next day until now, I just go to bed.
This has deteriorated just like SNL has.

The great Karnac forsees the fall of television in the next 3 years.
They will try to save it with Japanese - style programming, then they will try to introduce
'The Running Man'

which will be hosted by Will Ferrel.
Nothing will save it, and the only thing people will use their TV's for is to play video games.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
That's exactly the way it is now, anyways!
I mean, who watches TV anymore?
Oh - oh - I gotta go, Neicy is on!
Mm - mm - MM!

Re: The Tonight Show
I think both Leno and Conan are funny, but I just don't watch the shows like I used to. I think that moving the show to 12:05 is insane. It's been in the same time slot for 60 years and moving it will be a major mistake.
Conan was very cool with that well written letter.

The move is unfair. I much prefer Conan over Leno.

Re: The Tonight Show
I always like Leno's Headlines skit on mondays and the fact he has alot of cool bikes. Even a jet one.
I watched the opening to Conans show where he got a tattoo. Kinda of reminded me of a friend who liked my ink so got one too. It was the size of a freckle and I literally laughed so hard beer came out my nose.

Re: The Tonight Show
I'm kind of siding with Conan on this one. They did offer him the show and he signed a multi-year contract, so I think they should really honor that.
Leno has had the show for years now, and I think it's time he does something else. I don't think he was ever funny anyway. In my opinion, Carson and Steve Allen were the best Tonight Show hosts. Leno can be alright if he has good prewritten material, but I don't think he has the talent of Conan, Letterman, or even Ferguson for that matter.

Re: The Tonight Show
I agree that Leno should move on. I think this is NBC's way of not paying him out and saving millions. If he does get another show and times are moved again I wonder how long it will be before that fails as well and they realize their mistake(producers/network).

Re: The Tonight Show
Craig Ferguson on the Late Late Show was better than Leno, Letterman, and Conan combined.

I can agree with that.
Can we all just agree that Carson Daily is the least funny of all? I've tried to watch his show and it's just painful.

On top of that they had Conan sign a contract for 6 years saying that he'd take over the show. He waited in the wings and then not even a year into it they pull this? It's almost like they are doing it on purpose for attention.

I don't know man, Jimmy Fallon is also pretty awful. It's kind of a toss up to me.

jimmy isnt is bad as he used to be... well He is, but the shows gotten better.
the writers have come up with a ton of filler to replace jimmys lack of humour. now the interviews are a 1 minute to plug the new movie, then 6 minutes of said celebrity trying to throw a foot ball through a tire while the roots play some tunes, and jimmy says encouraging things.
its still pretty crappy, but if the guest is good then its watchable.

I'm glad Andy's back. I still wouldn't watch though. Conan's way too annoying.

Re: The Tonight Show
Well I guess it's a good thing we have a choice in late night hosts. Personally I like most of them in moderation but I think Conan is the smarter, witty of the bunch.
Carson and Fallon are just awful and they shouldn't be getting paid for what they do, imo.

Re: The Tonight Show
If this goes down this way I'll be tuning out of The Tonight Show until Leno finally retires. How can he go back and force Conan out? I bet his Tonight Show will never be the same. Conan has a huge fanbase and I doubt any of them will forgive this BS.
I hope Conan goes to a competing time slot and kills the tonight show.
