The Holidays
This thread is for anything about the holidays. What you celebrate, where you are going etc.. Not just for X-mass but for whatever you celebrate.
I'll start off by posting a picture of my tree but feel free to post your snowman or anything. I cut this down myself off of crown land(got a permit). The trees in my area don't get too big but I always liked a Charlie Brown christmas tree.

Re: The Holidays
I only celebrate holidays for my family. If it were up to me I'd ignore the whole damn mess and be much happier. Christmas sucks and it has no meaning besides making money. Bah Humbug.

Re: The Holidays
I use to feel that way until I became a father. Now Christmas is much like reliving the old charm it had when I was his age.

Re: The Holidays
Yeah I can see that. To me christmas is mainly for kids anyways, or it should be. The adults who get all crazy about it need mental help or they're deeply religious, or both(sorry I couldn't help myself).

Re: The Holidays
I agree. Christmas is really a time for children and faith. I think adults who go overboard without one of those two reasons behind it are quite sad.
In the end I would prefer someone not buy me a gift instead of feeling like they have to. That always ends in them gifting some garbaged trinket without any thought put into it. Thus forcing me to pretend that I'm happy to receive it when forced to open it in front of others.

Re: The Holidays
Hollidays are fine, though commercialism runs rampant. I try and wait to do anything about Christmas until after Dec. 8th, because then my birthday seems eclipsed by Christmas and the December holliday stuff.

Re: The Holidays
I'm not into giving a whole bunch of presents but I sent cards to people with a cd of x-mass tunes.
I just tried out my new snow blower. It's awesome. Last year there was so much snow my back got sore from shovelling. I did the side walks in my town with cigar in mouth and a flask of whiskey. Lot's of fun.
Once my drifts get bigger I will make a snow man. I have a buddy that does big snow sculptures like those huge sand ones. He's pretty good, takes him a month or two in his spare time after work. He's 40 but he drinks a 6 pack and plays in the snow.
This is a neat one I found.

Re: The Holidays
I think we all got excited on christmas for toys/games.
My favorite movies for the holidays are
Christmas Story
Quote
Ralphie as Adult: [ narrating] Only one thing in the world could've dragged me away from the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window
(refering to the lamp)
National Lampoons- Christmas Vacation
Qoute
Clark: Our holidays were always such a mess.
Clark Sr.: Oh, yeah.
Clark: How'd you get through it?
Clark Sr.: I had a lot of help from Jack Daniels.
I have always wanted that lamp simply because of how non-conventional it is. I found it last year on ebay but the wife said 'NO'. She found it tacky for some reason, I consider it high class Art.

Re: The Holidays
I think that was hilarious. A bit excited yes, but still funny.
Without the N64 we would have never had Goldeneye 007, Ocarina of Time, or WWF: No Mercy.

Re: The Holidays
reasons the n64 sucked:
-the controller is by far the worst controller of the last 25 years
-rpg's... hello... are there any at all for frig sakes?
-graphics were garbage, 3d games didnt start looking decent until dreamcast
-way too small a library, not even 400 games total, and of those games the only ones worth
mentioning, you've already mentioned
i was excited when i got mine too, (mind you i didnt go nuts playing the box like a bongo drum like those kids) but it didnt take too long before i gave up hope, id go as far as saying the n64 is the biggest reason i lost interest in the future of gaming, luckily the nds has brought some of that back. dragon quest 9, coming soon!!!

Re: The Holidays
I never had problems with the controller.
Look up the CD-i controller and you'll realize how wrong you are.
Paper Mario was an awesome RPG.
Perfect Dark had awesome graphics.
There still are more games:
Kirby 64, Majora's Mask, Resident Evil 2 (N64 Edition), Crusin USA,
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, Tony Hawks Proskater 1+2, Wave Race 64,
Star Fox 64, F-Zero X, 1080: Snowboarding, Diddy Kong Racing,
Excitebike 64, Mario Tennis and Golf, San Fransico Rush: 2049,
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Donkey Kong 64, Wipe Out 64, Battletanx,
StarCraft 64, Mario Party 1-3, Quake, Mortal Kombat 4, Duke Nukem 64,
Killer Instinct Gold, Doom 64, NFL Blitz.

you can talk the system up as much as you want, that doesnt change how crappy it is when compared to the nes, snes, gameboy, gameboy advance, nintendo ds, game cube and the wii.

Re: The Holidays
My ma' bought a christmas tree-in-a-pot this year. I believe the extravaganza will end there.
I agree that christmas is to be enjoyed mainly by the kids.

You must not have had any friends to play with when Nintendo 64 came out. It was a party machine. All I needed was Goldeneye, Mario Party, one of those dumb wrestling games and 3 friends by my side and I could play that thing for days.
Oh, and Smash Bros.
