Youth = Dumb?
I'm going to ask this mostly to the younger members but, is it just around me or has the entire nation gone into stupidity. To explain, I have done some bad things like smoking but i've stopped that. But most everyone in my town, 6th grade (and under!) have started to do things like this. It gets on my nerves that every day I hear about someone, even the people i care most about, doing this with them, or drinking this, or smoking this. And I can understand the whole "I wanna know what it's like" deal but to be doing this, and not thinking anything is wrong with it is different. Especialy from kids as young as 13, 12, 11?! I want to know if this is happening wherever anyone else is located, and if so why they think its happening. I think its the towns skatepark. It's like a machine that concentrates the towns paracidic filth into one big viral cell that infects almost everyone. Not only drugs but sexual things too. I know of a 6th grader who had sex and got pregnant.

Re: Youth = Dumb?
It is bad that kids as young as 11 are doing all these things but it's not anything new. People have more freedom now but young adults have always tried to grow up too soon and expose themselves to forbidden things. 50-60 years ago kids were sneaking cigarettes as young as 11 and also drinking, probably having sex as well. I know for sure about the smoking thing because my mother said she first tried it around that age.
If I were you I wouldn't worry about it, just do what you think is right for yourself.

Re: Youth = Dumb?
Yeah, I use to sneak cigarettes as a kid. Hell, my grandfather use to come and take me out of elementary school to go fishing with him. First rule of fishing is to bring beer.

Re: Youth = Dumb?
I'm not involved with drugs or alcohol myself, but it seems 75% of kids are on drugs where I live... in my new school, I have 3 friends, I was working on befriending this other group of friends until they invited me to go on an 'E' run, so I didn't.
I was almost killed on like monday or tuesday when I was walking home, this Beige windstar came skidding around a corner until it almost flipped over, it skidded back and forth across the street I was on. It dove for me and slammed right into a parked car that was right beside me, Some teenagers were laughing their heads off like they were high inside the car & they took off at 150 KM/h(100 Mph) right through a busy intersection. WTH.
Personally, I think drugs are a choice, but people who choose them wind up in situations like that.(^^^) Kids around here are for the most part, drug heads and stupid.

Re: Youth = Dumb?
I personally think that Youth = Immaturity and Irational thinking. Not stupidity.
That doesn't say much however, people I know are smart but do stupid things.
Until a certain age, a certian protein isn't produced which is asociated with Maturity.
( I forgot the name)
@ Cameron, they just drove off laughing?

Re: Youth = Dumb?
I'm 14, and I admit to trying drugs before. That being said, it's not so much the stupidity of the user as the glamorization of the drug by media sources and other users. To a child, they see their favorite rapper smoke a little weed and they wanna do it. That being said, I did weed once, that's when I tried drugs, and didn't like the smell, so I stopped.

Re: Youth = Dumb?
Most people do stupid things as kids. Most of them quit. Some of them keep going.
And a few pay the ultimate price for their bad decisions and end up wrapping their car around a tree and get killed.
But I agree with Dudebro. You do you and let them do them.

I'm holding people responsible, but media inspiration definitely assists someone in starting, especially if that person is insecure.

No, stupid drug users end up in situations like that. There is a difference.

That's cool but I'd prefer if you didn't make ignorant generalizations based on your personal life choices.

So you think anyone who uses drugs will eventually do something stupid because of it? My point is stupid people will do stupid things regardless drug use.

Re: Youth = Dumb?
Why do you insist on making generalizations? No offense but you really have no idea what you're talking about. Drugs may not be for you but you have no right to judge anyone else for their life choices.
Not everyone thinks drugs are bad btw. Just because you've had a couple bad experiences on the mean streets of canada( ) doesn't mean you have any idea what you're talking about.

Re: Youth = Dumb?
I agree with Dudebro here 100%. Stupid people are going to do stupid things, sometimes these people just happen to do drugs as well. There are many people who use drugs and do well in society. I know a couple doctors who smoke herb every once in a while, and a lawyer who does coke. Matter of fact I smoked with my history teacher on graduation day. I do know plenty of people who do use drugs and get caught up in sticky situations, but they are the type of people who no matter the factors would end up the same.
My opinion on the media influence, I dont think that makes it any worse. Everyone I have ever met who has done anything in the drug category has done it for other reasons. Peer pressure is more influence than media IMO.

I would say most drug users are like that. There are very few exceptions.

I think you're trying to troll us but I'll bite anyways. You think most drug users are completely reckless and ignorant? Are you including alcohol in this scenario? How about the large amount of harmless weed smokers, you think they're also reckless and ignorant?
Also it's important to note that cameron is just assuming these kids were on drugs. Imo this opinion is heavily influenced by his ignorant generalizations about drug users.

No I really think the majority of weed smokers are harmless, why do you think they're not?
Other than that I'm at a loss for words. I don't understand how you can make that kind of generalization about such a large segment of the world population.

When I smoke pot I am harmless, unless you think about it from the point of view of a twinkie.
Perhaps Tenser is trying to think of the twinkies?
