I'm not sure if you are talking about the books or movies, but either way for me it's Lord Of The Rings FTW.

I like Harry Potter quite a lot, but I don't think much of anything can touch the rich complexity of Tolkien's Middle Earth. The movies are great, but there so many other books and stories that fill it in even more.

LOTR...no contest (imo). Harry Potter is entertaining, I'll give it that. That is where it stops, though.

LOTR has been an epic icon of literature for readers worldwide for nearly a century, and has also had an immeasurable influence on writers of fantasy fiction. Authors like JK Rowling (even if they don't admit it) owe a lot to Tolkien's works.

I hate the Lord of the Rings, the books are incredibly boring. JRR Tolkien is like my debate coach, he rambles on about nothing for a lot of the time.

LOTR books are for people who like more complex stories.

Potter is fun and interesting but they are kids books so they are easier to understand.

I have read all of the books of both series and seen the movies and I like them both for different reasons.
But LOTR did get my vote.

Harry Potter is okay, but I don't like it because of a few terrible acting parts and because everybody freaked out when the movies were first released...same reason I don't like Twilight.
Lord of the Rings however is freakin awesome, amazing (but long) movies, with great video games to go along with it.
