Re: good covers of songs?
Manfred Mann's Earth Band cover of Blinded by the Light, originally by Bruce Springsteen
most people know this version of it rather than the original, I rather like it much more than the original, and I usually don't like covers that much, but then again I have a personal grudge against Springsteen, anywho enough of that, back to the music[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eg8cDmi7-U8&feature=related"]YouTube - Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann's Earth Band[/ame]

Smooth criminal is an awesome cover, so much better than MJs version.

That is also cool.
It's not technically a cover but I like Weird Als version of Ridin Dirty

I think of Winnebagel when I hear the part at 2:15.
Seriously I was tearing up laughing just now watching this and I've seen it like a thousand times.

Re: good covers of songs?
How about one of the most famous cover songs?
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14qTXRkAKr8"]YouTube - All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix (studio version)[/ame]
Even Bob Dylan loved it(he wrote it for those who don't know). He said of it-

Nothing is better than Michael!
Good covers include:
Gone Daddy Gone by Gnarls Barkley (Originally by Violent Femmes)
Why Go Home by P.O.S. (Originally by Pearl Jam)

I really like this cover.
Also I stand by what I said earlier. AAFs version is miles better than MJs.

Re: good covers of songs?
Rock:
Motorhead's cover of the Sex Pistols' GOD SAVE THE QUEEN is quite lovely, the Queen driving their bus in the video is a nice touch.
Eurodance:
Shanadoo's cover of Aneka's JAPANESE BOY is quite lovely, and so are those girls.
American Wave of New Metal:
Kittie's cover of Pink Floyd's RUN LIKE HELL is quite lovely, indeed.
Reggae:
not really a cover, but Cutty Ranks' BLOOD ON THE CORNER is done to the tune of C.C.R.'s DOWN ON THE CORNER, and it is not lovely, but an accurate account of inner city life.
Drum and bass:
Hopa & Bones ALI BABA, a remix of King Tubby and Augustus' ALI BABA RIDDIM
and
Badman's WAR IN '94, a remix of Cutty Ranks' LIMB BY LIMB
Dubstep:
I still haven't figured out what they sampled, but Spor's DEATHRAY is a truly amazing song. Yoda as the DJ in the video is cute too.
Techno:
Krafwerk's remake of their classic AUTOBAHN is good, and their so is their new RADIOACTIVITY
but now I'm not talking covers anymore so I will stop here.
BTW your suggestions are great as well everybody!

I can't believe someone did a cover of GIN AND JUICE.
That's where I would flip over the CD back in the days.

You have to have over 15 posts and be above level 1. It's almost impossible to have 15 posts and still be level 0. You have 16 posts and are level 7 now, try again.
