Gamefaqs is doing a poll of the best game ever. Seeing as how I completely disagree with everyone that's being voted in I thought we'd host our own.

I'll keep it retro though using games that are at least 12 years old.

I didn't pay attention to the multiple choice part so I only picked one, Tetris.

I think Tetris is the best of the bunch. All the others on the list don't hold up well over time. Most of them are awesome but they look and feel dated compared to modern games. Tetris is so well designed it doesn't need anything else(all the "sequels" are so lame it hurts). I guess that why we don't see Punch out on cell phones and other devices. Tetris is a masterpiece.

Btw, lol@Oregon Trail, that was a video game too?

Its up to you if you want to make your vote public or not. They're all great games in which you could make a sound judgement for any of them.

For me, I picked just one which was Punch-Out!! Simply because I can still have fun with that game no matter how many times I play it.

Mega Man 2 and Oregon Trail would be close seconds.

No. Since there has been an average of 2 votes per person it adds up to 200%.
If there was only two choices and only 2 people voted and they both voted for both items then each item would have been picked 100% of the time for a total 200%. It is doing it correctly.

I voted for Punch-Out and Tetris. Both are great original games that stood the test of time very well. I still play them.

donkey kong, tetris, space invaders, and pac man. all forefathers more or less of their respective genres, and i found a real divide between these and the other four.

mega-man 2:, so what? its a megaman game
punchout!!: excellent game, but thats it, didnt do anything for the proggression of video games
pong: always found it more annoying than fun
oregon trail: never played it, but it seems to be the butt of alot of jokes

I honestly dont see how donkey kong and tetris could be considered the best games ever.

tetris is a great puzzle game but gameplay is simplistic and repetitive
same with donkey kong

atleast mega man 2 and punch out have more of a story and intuitive gameplay.

Tetris had almost a viral popularity. It is still a staple game on many cell phones, PDA's, etc.
It has to be considered an all-time classic, despite the repetition.

Also, Oregon Trail was SWEET. I used to play that game in grammar school all the time. When else could you play video games at school and say it was educational? It was always fun to get a message like: "Dudebro has dysentery" or "Tenser has the measles".

On top of that, you got to go hunting for tasty grub like squirrels! I love me some squirrel meat.

i'm all about oregon trail.

for many gamers, their first game experence was on an apple II that ran BASIC games or something off of a floppy.

oregon trail was one of the bearable ways to pass time in school. we would race each other to see if we could beat the game in one period, of course, speed runs likely mean that you will die from starvation, but oh well. taking ferries are for sissies, real men ford all rivers.

I was bored so I voted for every game except for Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! and The Oregon trail, the reason being I don't really like punch out but super punch out is kinda' cool, and I've never even heard of Oregon Trail.

1972 - 1988
1989 - 1991
1992 - 1994
1995 - 1997
