Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
Ok I don't get this at all they make a movie back in 1994 that was a OK movie at the best.
The original movie at least had Van Damme, and Raul Julia to save it.
Is there really a point to come out with another street fighter movie other then to piggy back on the other comic book and video game movies out there.
The biggest shock to me was who they picked for M. Bison. Neal McDonough. Don't know who that is well let me add a bit of incite to that he was Jay Hamilton in the movie Walking Tall. He was the casino owner. If that doesn't ring a bell then how about "Desperate Housewives" he plays Dave Williams.
I would like to hear others opinions on this as well.
Any way here is the trailer for movie as well as the whole cast list. The only thing that I do like is Michael Clark Duncan as Balrog. That I can see.

"OK at the best"
It was crap-tastic at the best
"The original movie at least had Van Damme and Raul Julia to save it"
Van Damme hurt it, Raul Julia helped slightly
"The biggest shock to me was who they picked for M. Bison. Neal McDonough."
Get out Neal, you still have a career!
You can see how I feel about the movie

Re: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
I like how they make it based on the most boring character in the whole game. Let me guess, it's because she has big boobs and shows a lot of leg. Typical. Why not E. Honda? Or Blanka? Both of them would be more interesting.
Raul Julia is reason enough to like the other movie.
Btw I believe this is timed with the new 360 SF game. I doubt it's a coincidence.

Re: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
I agree there dudebro they picked the wrong character to profile a movie around. I think that watching the history of Blanka and how he came to be would be alot more interesting then Chun-Li.

Re: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
It's BLANKA! I just spelled it above your post!
But really, I say they should make the Dhalsim story, starring Ben Kingsley. I'd watch that. Hell even bring back Van Damme as guile I don't care.

Re: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
From everything I have heard they completely cut out Ryu & Ken. The story also looks like it does not at all resemble the game. It kind of looks like trash to me. I will probably check it out when it comes out on DVD, but there is no way I am watching it in the theater.

Re: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
This kinda reminds me of when they decided to make a game about Nina Williams. Yeah I bet most people reading that have no idea who that is, that's my point.
Most fans of Street Fighter only know the cool characters. The first SF movie might've been corny as hell but at least they focused on a main character that everyone knew.
Btw Nina is from Tekken, she's awesome but did not need her own game.
edit- Wow I just checked the cast list and I'm shocked. Only chun Li and the 4 end bosses are listed. Vega is being played by the guy from Black Eyed Peas. Yeah I'll pass.

Yeah I don't get it. Why even make another live action movie and then try to drive the fans of the game away? Who else is even going to watch it?
It's kind of like I was reading that they are now producing a live action King of Fighters movie, but they have gone and cut out the Bogards, but left in Mai Shiranui. As a big Neo Geo fan I was like, "WHAT?!" It just doesn't make sense to me.

TMT I like bad movies as well, but there is a cut off to how bad a movie could be that even gets me thinking this is to bad for me to even want to see.

I don't like movies that are kind of bad. I like movies that are either ridiculously bad or just plain good.

Oh okay. In spite of everything else, if the fights are good in the new movie I will probably watch it on video, and maybe even pick it up if good enough. It's hard to top the original SFII anime movie, though.

Re: Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
if you really like bad movies, then i would suggest zombie strippers with jenna jamison and the guy that plays freddy in a nightmare on elm street.
the first street fighter with jcvd and julia was awful...and you could only classify julia's performance well if you believe his intention was to act poorly. btw, his two lines, "it helps me levitate" and "game ov-aaaaaa!!!" still rate on my worst lines list.
something i am interested in checking out is JCVD, basically a story about an actor past his peak in popularity that get caught in a real hero situation...van damme plays himself.

The guys who plays Freddy Jruger is named Robert Englund.
I think JCVD looks interesting too. It's kind of a mockumentary, but looks worth a look.[br] Posted on: February 23, 2009, 02:11:42 PM_________________________________________________

Alas! These are the times we live in. That is why I pretty much don't watch things in the theatre, but wait for the Blu-Ray. It looks better at home too.

Yeah because blu ray is so much better! You get to pay like 25-29 dollars and still only watch it once!
