Re: Sonic and the Black Knight
Never again.
Never again will I be fooled by looking forward to a Sonic game. Sonic is dead to me. Unless on handhelds!

Re: Sonic and the Black Knight
Sega is making great games without the need for a blue hedgehog these days.

Re: Sonic and the Black Knight
Thing is, Sonic is like a dog that keeps peeing on the carpet but Sega, the owneres of the dog cant put the dog down because they love him so much. In my opinion, Sega should just end it now. No matter what you do with Sonic, it will fail. Even if you give him a gun, it still wont work. And the only good Sonic games to come out is the Rush series.

I agree with the highlighted statement. Though I do think its possible to come out with another good Sonic game I don't think it will happen. Right now Sonic is just draining the SEGA coffers which is the opposite of what a mascot is suppose to do.
If SEGA keeps putting out quality like House of the Dead: Overkill and MadWorld they'll be alright.

I know what you mean. This year SEGA has given me a lot of hope. Last year it was just a joke. Golden Axe: Beast Rider just vomited on the whole Golden Axe franchise. And Sonic Unleashed was mediocore at best. The Beijing game was allright. And maybe soon like a whole SEGA collection with the Saturn and SEGA CD games.

I liked Unleashed actually due to the high quality Sonic Levels, and I didn't completely hate the werehog.
SEGA needs to take time and quit the gimmicks, then Sonic can be great again. (Get rid of Shadow too)

Re: Sonic and the Black Knight
sega needs to build on what made sonic great in the first place, instead of trying to have it fit in with every conceivable gaming genre (sonic using a sword to kill bad guys? really, sega?)

They won't end sonic for one reason... Sonic sells. Say what you will about unleashed, but it sold well, as will sonic.

I'll say it once, I'll say it again:
Sonic Adventure 3
Or just let the poor icon die.

The truth is, he won't die because he sells, and SA3 could just be another bad sonic game with Adventure in the title, I thought Sonic Next-Gen seemed like SA3, and that it would be the best sonic game ever, but I was pretty wrong.

We all were wrong; horribly, horribly wrong
Sega should do what Konami is doing with Contra (which also is terrible in 3D),
go back to 2D and hire a team to make the game.

Re: Sonic and the Black Knight
Or they could just drop sonic and make a new game. You can only beat a dead horse so long before someone steps in and stops you.

No, nobody can stop them unless people stop buying because SEGA owns sonic. Also, there is no need to drop Sonic, because nobody would benefit. The people who don't like Sonic wouldn't benefit, because they wouldn't buy the games anyway, regardless. The people who still have hope wouldn't benefit, because they just want to buy the games. Sonic wouldn't benefit, because he's fictional. So what's the point?

Re: Sonic and the Black Knight
Sonic does not need a sword, lol. This is what would make Sonic great again. The side scrolling, but amazing graphics, and cinematic slow motion scenes when he goes through loops, jumps off walls, etc. The same concept as the old ones but with amazing graphics, that is all they need to do to save Sonic, in my opinion.

My point was they should stop making so many Sonic games. By pushing out so many retarded versions they're losing all thier once loyal fans. I'm sure a lot of people won't buy a new Sonic game until they know for sure it's not a failure. That's not good for business. They'll still sell sonic games to people who buy it just for the name brand but that won't stay profitable for long. Quality over quantity and all that.
Welcome to RU RockoJulian, I agree with your post. Make Sonic what it used to be and they might even get me to buy it. Probably not but I'd at least have some respect for them if they tried alittle harder. Sonic with a sword is failure from the start.

Honestly Dudebro, the only way Sega could fix Sonic is if they just make a regular 3-D Sonic game like Adventure and NOT do anything with it. No swords, No Guns, No Knifes. Or no new characters in the game. Just Sonic.

All SEGA needs to do when they think that's about to happen is what they always do. Make a game that they shamelessly hype before it sucks *cough*sonicnextgen*cough* and then make a compilation so people keep buying sonic games, and add some rock solid 2d games to the handheld.
The thing is, even the bad Sonic games often look like they'll make Sonic even more awesome. I remember the first time I saw the Sonic Next-Gen trailer. It was the single best advertisement for any game I have ever seen. After that, I kept thinking about how awesome the new Sonic game would be. I didn't even bother reading any reviews for it, It just seemed that awesome that I felt so sure about it. Little did I know that it was the most dissapointing game I've ever played.
Sonic Unleashed had the speed of the daytime levels that seemed awesome (but they quickly became a collection of quick-time areas) and other Sonic games did this too.
I remember when I thought Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Riders were just slips, and not a harbinger of bad games to come...
