so i have a 103 degree fever and pneumonia and my doc was gonna keep me overnight but there werent enough beds and my pneumonia wasnt severe enough

im miserable

i didnt leave because i didnt feel good my mom told me i had to go to bed because i was sick she didnt want me stayin up i swear!

I had an allergic reaction to a 500 mg niacin (vitamin B3) pill this morning. I've never been allergic to anything before, not even poison ivy. I turned red, swelled, got a fever, my nose ran, and oh god! the itching. Lasted for about 3 hours. Now I am exhausted. I feel like I've been up all night partying. Instead I've been in bed all morning frantically scratching and neurotically muttering ohgod ohgod ohgod ohgod.

I took the pill because a roommate put the bottle in the kitchen cupboard and I thought what the hell, free vitamins and took one with breakfast.

I was freaking out because I had never had anything remotely similar to that happen. I thought I was going to turn into the purple girl on Willy Wonka and have to wake the neighbors up for a ride to the hospital - which I have never known where a hospital is. If someone ever came to me and said "Quick, I need a ride to the hospital", I would have to say "OK, hold on a second, I'll have to Google a bus route to that. Be right back." I should probably fix that information gap just in case.

I did have a friend get glass dust in his eye once and I had to Google directions to the hospital for him. I got lost on the way and had to stop for directions. But that was in a different city. To check for eye damage they pour glow in the dark liquid in your eye and use a black light strapped to a microscope. When the DR left I played with the microscope looking for crime clues in the ER room.

Yeah its a horrible feeling to have an allergic reaction. I had the same thing happen to me one time when the hospital gave me antibodics. I didn't know I even had any allergies. Scariest part was my throat started to close up on me. You did get to a Doctor didn't you? They can give you something to help with the hives. Hope you get better soon.

not really sickness related, but in my field, i see a lot of injuries, the best one ever. in a rugby game a girl on the ground and someone step on her face, the cleat got caught in her nostril, when the other person stepped away, it took half of her nose off.

In any case, I had a birthmark on my neck, so we went on a waiting list to get it removed, and I went in once, and was fine afterwards, but the second time they gave me an anesthetic, I woke up sicker than heck and my Imune system got brought down, and I could barely even drink water for like a month, I couldn't eat or anything, just water, and I felt awful, I still don't know what happened, but my imune system is still repairing, and I get sick easily

Wow! That's intense! What is your field? In sports somehow? Did you find out if she was okay?
