Re: top 11 snes games
when making a list you should only do one game per-franchise. Here Mario and Donkey Kong dominate the list.
And where's turtles in time, Super punchout, super metroid, and Link to the past?

Re: top 11 snes games
hey it was my list, if you want to post your own do so below, but that list was my opinion.
I never played turtles of time or super metroid, and I hated super punchout, but loved the original. ;D
by the way my list doesn't include rpg games

Re: top 11 snes games
the dkc series did nothing for me. it was just another platformer. if you wanted to make a strong argument for it, you could say that one of the games would be in the top 11 or whatever you had, but no way on all 3, definatly not with the other titles are out there. the only two donkey kong themed games that i ever liked were the original and diddy kong racing for n64

Re: top 11 snes games
Cameron, do not get upset, you asked for opinions. From the two lists present I prefer Tails' list over yours, but I only like 5 of the games on his list.
My list would be:
11. Super Punch Out
10. Super Smash T.V.
9. Illusion of Gaia
8. Super Mario World
7. Super Metroid
6. Super Mario RPG
5. Secret of Evermore
4. LOZ: Link's Awakening
3. Tecmo Super Bowl
2. Chrono Trigger
1. Secret of Mana
This is just a list of games that I have played extensively. There are so many more I haven't played very much (Final Fantasy 2 & 3, Mega Man X 2 & 3, Donkey Kong Country 2 & 3, Breath of Fire 1 & 2, NHL '98, NBA Live '98, etc.) that may jump on to this list in time.

you should try only including one game per franchise...

Re: top 11 snes games
Alright let's see...
Donkey Kong Country 3
Super Mario World
Sunset Riders
Turtles In Time
Super Mario RPG
Earthbound
Kirby Super Star
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
That's all I can think of. I'm pretty surprised I put 2 whole RPGs on my list.

Why? That makes no sense. If you think a game is good enough to be in your top ten then what's the reasoning behind not adding it? If you don't want to do that with your list, more power to ya. But it would be kind of ridiculous that I couldn't add my #5 pick (Seiken Densetsu 3) because my #1 is Secret of Mana.
You keep attempting to argue with other people's opinions such as this list and with E.T. But that's just a game for the foolhardy. Quit the trolling and add your own list before you comment on someone else's.

the reason for adding one game per franchise is the fact that lists could be dominated by mario and Donkey kong with only a few outside games, and you could get a list like this:
10. Super Mario All-Stars
9. Super Mario RPG
8. Donkey Kong Country
7. Donkey kong country 2
6. Donkey Kong country 3
5. Super Mario World
4. Star fox
3. Zelda: Link to the past
2. Super Metroid
1. Yoshi's Island
Yes, it includes multiple franchises but it's bombed by the same franchise.
I'm not gonna get into ET
And here's my list that follows the rules:
10. Donkey Kong Country
9. Chrono Trigger
8. Secrets of Mana
7. Link To the Past
6. Mega-Man X
5. Turtles In time
4. Super Punch-Out
3. Batman Returns
2. Final Fight
1. Yoshi's Island
see, one game per franchise, above would be my list with multiple franchises

Re: top 11 snes games
I'm just curious, where are these "rules" you speak of? From what I can see, the only thing you need is the top 11 games (why 11 is a whole other topic in itself :P). I see nothing about it having to be from a different franchise for each pick, like Tenser said:

I'm curious though, would you classify Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, and Super Mario RPG as the same franchise? If so, it kind of weakens the argument since they are each a totally different style of game from the other and all very good.

They're all from the same franchise. Shouldn't someone instead pick their favorite game in the franchise.

Re: top 11 snes games
In my opinion, no. All three games are completely different from each other and fun in their own way. Besides its the 11 top games not franchises. If you took Mario out of those games, wouldn't each of those games be on the top list, better yet, your top list, I would argue yes.

exactly, @laserboy, are you saying that super mario (a platformer) or zelda (action/adventure) is part of the same franchise as ssbb? a fighting game. that makes no sense.
11. Cybernator
10. Knights of the Round
9. Contra III
8. Mega Man X
7. Star Fox
6. Flashback
5. Secret of Mana
4. Chrono Trigger
3. Legend of Zelda: LTTP
2. Super Mario World
1. Final Fantasy III

SS is a crossover of franchises, and part of the Super Smash franchise in general...

Re: top 11 snes games
I can see the logic of one game per franchise with Mega Man or Bomber Man or Madden Football but not with Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, and Super Mario RPG.
I didn't spend a lot of time with Nintendo when I was a kid but you are all missing the best 16-bit game of all time - for SNES or Genesis - Out of this World.

I can't bias it with that franchise though...

A franchise is the company's attempt to profit off of a character solely, like in Super Mario or Sonic. Super Smash profits off of Many characters, so It would be a crossover or an entirely new franchise due to the fact that there's 3 games in it.
