Re: favourite hockey team
I only watch hockey during the Olympics, given that there is no NHL team near me, so my choice would be Team USA.

uh...concerning the men's team...no they don't. in get that your memory didn't kick in until 1998 or so. they've won one gold medal in the past 50+ years.
historically, the best team was the soviets, recently, it has been european teams, with sweden winning in 2006 and the czechs winning in 1998

Re: favourite hockey team
A little before my time, but the original Broad Street Bullies, the '75 Philadelphia Flyers. One of the few NHL teams to beat a Soviet team in the once popular Super Series.

Re: favourite hockey team
!?!?!?! and western canada got the western canadians and the american teams got american players. recruiting locally isn't a stupid rule, if there is talent in your area, you go get it.

Re: favourite hockey team
the new york yankees had to have alex rodiguez and more recently, c.c. sabathia...what is the problem with getting the best talent, french or not? reasons like that are why i laugh when people say that they hate the patriots...why? because they are the best run organization and they win because of it.

You're correct. They did not make the playoffs. However, I think one has to consider it remarkable what they were able to accomplish with the circumstances they were dealt. Cheaters or not, the Patriots have people that know what it takes to be successful throughout the entire organization.
As for jim5cents' comment, I don't think the Patriots are comparable to the Yankees. I wouldn't call the Yankees a well run organization at all. How many Yankees' players actually come up through their farm system? Throwing money at overpriced, often overhyped free agents does not take any type of skill. Scouting, evaluating, drafting and nurturing talent takes a lot of guts and know-how, and that's why it's nice to see teams like the Rays experience success.

only because of rules structure, they had a better or equal to record than half of the teams in the playoffs. Not to mention they have 2 more NFL and 3 more AFC championships than any other team this decade.

yes, very bad comparsion, my apologizes. the point i was making was directed more towards the acquiring of available talent. cameron's argument of montreal getting all of the french player is lame...montreal is in quebec, quebec is french (i know, not really french, french canadian), thus, montreal went and got the best available talent they could get that was within the sphere of influence. just like the yankees go out and purchase what they deem to be the best talent they could get, it just so happens their sphere of influence isn't limited to quebec, it is global.
