Stump Tenser
Game is simple. You post a video game question in hopes that I don't know the answer. If you win, I'll give you points, if I win you have to cough up yours.
Rules:
1. No multiple part questions.
2. It must be about an official, North American released NES game. (no pirates, hacks, or foreign titles) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...t_System_games
3. You must already know the asnwer. No looking it up before you ask. This includes "playthroughs."
4. I may not look up any of the answers. Either I know it or I don't.
5. When you ask your question, assign how many points you wish to bet me. You may not bet me more points than I have. Besides that you can bet 1 point or 32,000 points.
6. If you ask a vague question expect a vague answer.
7. Once a question has been asked about a game, that game is out of play and may not be used for another question.
8. If I am close I will leave it up to you to decide if I won, lost, or tied.
List of games already used:
Burgertime
Castlequest
Dragon Warrior
Dragon Warrior 3
Final Fantasy
Immortal
Klashball
Krusty's Funhouse
Legend of Zelda
Megaman
Metroid
Pro Wrestling
River City Ransom
Simpsons: Bart Vs. The Aliens
Simpsons: Bart Vs. The World
Simpsons: Bartman Vs. Radioactive Man
Super C

I bet you 2,000 points that you do not know the name of the wrestler with green skin from "Pro Wrestling".

@Billy: Amazon
@David: that's a SNES game
@Ninja: There are two "Town and Country: Surf Design" games; Thrilla's Safari and Woods and Water Rage. Complete stab in the dark here but I'll guess his name is "Thrilla"?

1. Just to be sure, you're speaking of The Legend of Zelda and not Zelda II: The Adventure of Link correct?
2. Balls of fire like the two next to the old man and old woman?
3. You knew this without looking it up?
At first I was thinking four but my gut is telling me eight. This is a good question...
I'm going to go with my gut and guess 8.

yes tenser this was legend of zelda the first one cause the second was a side scroller game..
i know this onewithout looking it up cause i have beaten it many of times.. they are the flames that are free standing in your way of getting to zelda and you have to destroy at least 2 of them to get to zelda
your first instincts were correct but alas the answer you gave was not.. there are 4 flames in the final room of the game..

Re: Stump Tenser
@David:
3. are you referring to World 1-2?
Techinically its impossible to answer without looking at the hex code as you can't hit every block but I'll take a swing at this by walking through it. If you've looked at the hex code before or know someone who has you probably have me.
You drop down and there's a row of 5 question blocks. The first one is a power-up and the next four each have a coin in them. After that there's the block in between the pillars that has 2~10 coins in it. Then there's that W shaped blocks one has a star in it. After that is the reverse J which has a power-up. Then there's the hidden 2~10 right after that. Pirahna pipes after that with a secret area which has a 2~10 right near the exit. There's that 1up on the roof and I believe one more power-up right underneath it. That's it I think.
My answer is then:
World 1-2 contains:
1 Question/Power Up Block
4 Question/1 Coin Blocks
3 Hidden/2~10 Coin Blocks
1 Hidden/Star Block
1 Hidden/1up Block
Approx. 30 loose coins
-or-
7 total blocks that contain some amount of coins within them.
I will assume you wish to bet 4,000 as you would have on Yoshi's Island.

Re: Stump Tenser
I think you may need to expand rule #3 to state that playthroughs = looking it up.
No way anyone would know the number of secret coin boxes on any level without playing and counting.

I appreciate the softball question. Eldrick's Sword is located in the same castle as the Dragon Lord.

Re: Stump Tenser
Sorry, my bad. Next time if you want a specific answer try using a specific question. :P
Since you two know so much about this grind fest of a game, why is it called Chartock anyways? I wonder if big DL is really named Chartock...[br]Posted on: August 31, 2008, 09:50:26 PM_________________________________________________A lso, I'm getting a lot of "vague" questions.
New Rule: If you're looking for a specific answer you'll have to ask a specific question.
If you ask me where Elderick's Sword is, "in the same castle as the DL" or "in the last castle" will be acceptable answers.
If you want the name of the castle that you can find Elderick's Sword, then ask so.
Thank you.

I got a question for you, Tenser, & like a bad poker player, I'm going All In in the first hand.
How many people are in each of the gangs in River City Ransom?

Nice try but when you include bosses, different gangs have different amounts of people. If you want me to not include bosses than your answer would be nine.
Fun Fact: All bad poker players have one thing in common, they all get invited to play often.

I meant Wood and Water Rage, thanks for catching that. I always forget about Thrilla's Surfari. "Thrilla" is incorrect. The masked skateboarder is called "Tiki Man".

Re: Stump Tenser
Probably should have went with a less memorable character from that game. Do I need to send the points to you or will you take them?
This game's gonna make me go broke on here.
For 2,000 more, what are the names of all three teams that you can choose to play as in "Klash Ball"?

Woot! You get the priveledge of using the "pirahna chomp" on your points yourself and sending them my way. ;D
Record: 1-2-0
Gain/Loss +500
As for Klashball, I know two of the teams are Verna and Draco. I believe the third is Lacata but I don't think I've spelled it right. Its up to you if you want to give me the win if I spelled it wrong. I use to play a lot of sports games when I was in grade/middle school. Hope that's right.
Probably should have went with the original.
