Robotron 15,054,575 Score Won't Save!

Well we have a real problem here.

I just finished a 15,054,575 point game of Robotron that I quit with lives to spare but once again it will not let me save using F12.

It keeps giving me the success message and this time I am leaving the window open still. Then I go check the view all scores and its not there. Then I check the movies and scores folder link and its not there.

So now what do I do?

I have tried 4 F12 saves and not one of them puts my name up or the score in the movie and scores folder.

Seems like Diff 3 not 5. Wave 535-ish. Sloppy play but got the job done. I just wanted to get past wave 500 this time but too bad it won't save!

Well a dozen attempts to save this score later nothing has changed....

I am going to crash for the night leaving the game window open and my laptop on until hopefully someone from RU comes along.

Okay, first thing is first, don't play another game, you score can most likely be salvaged. Your score is saved in your aox folder stored in your temp directory, playing another game will overwrite this score. I'm not at my PC right now, but I THINK if you can locate the folder and back it up somewhere it is safe to play another game. I can't help you beyond this, perhaps someone who knows can give you specific details of where it is stored, I know it's in temp somewhere... And give you instructions on the steps to take to submit the score manually. Good luck, and great score.

Are you talking on my computer or somewhere on the RU system?

I still have the game window with my score open so any help for this serious problem would be appreciated...

RU mods it's been hours and hours since this happened. Anyone out there who can help?

This is instructions for Windows 7-10 at least. You have to have the hidden files made visible to access the AppData folder in the Users folder. The Users folder is in the system root on the boot hard drive usually. After getting to there just go to the user folder that you got the record on. Then go the AppData folder. Then go to the Local folder. Then go to the Temp folder. Then go to the arcadeox folder. Then finally go to the storage folder to see if the .INP file is in there. Hopefully it is.

Thanks for the tip but I cannot find arcadeox on my system anywhere. Already did a search for it and zippo. Searched for .INP shows nothing recent except my last non-arcadeox MAME recordings offline.

I have not changed my netscape browser/system in any way since my last xevious score runs that saved fine. But they were all sub 2-3 hour recordings and this last game was around 4 hours. I don't think I ever had any problems with RU before this gremlin session.

I went to Users>jerky>AppData>Local>Temp but no arcadeoxfolder there (yep I have hidden files showing).

Any thoughts?

Quite the mystery. If nothing else I sure am the high scoring player in the "bugs and glitches" category this summer!

There should be an arcadeox folder there if it's in the right user folder with the padlock symbol on it. Unless it's saving somewhere else. Usually you can't play Arcade Ox software without it installing it in there. My computer has 3 user folders. The one that has a padlock symbol on it has the arcadeox software saved in there on mine.

Press Window Key + R to open the run prompt.
Paste
%temp%\low\arcadeox\coinopF\scores
and press enter.
If folder not found then change it to
%temp%\arcadeox\coinopF\scores
and press enter.

In that folder should be two files "puddin" and "score".
Put both in a zip file and email to RU@RetroUprising.com

Sorry you are having so much difficulty. Not sure what the problem is. My only guess is that for some reason a file size limit has been passed. After I see the files I'll try to figure out the cause.

Thanks again for this tip. I did some more digging and found the hidden arcadeox folder.

It was @ Users>jerky>AppData>Local>Temp>Low>arcadeox.

Then I went to arcadeox>coinopF>scores

This looks like where it has put all my F12 score save attempts since 12:20am ish last night. But the "score" files are all only 118kb in each folder. They seem to be the screenshot .png files.

Only the top score folder has an INP. titled "puddin" that is 6,119KB which would be the right size for a 4 hour game of robotron and its stamped at 12:20am (5.97mb). I only know its an INP from hexedit-ing it.

After all that though unfortunately that "puddin" INP file plays back a game in wolfmame135 that ends on wave 2 and then sits in the attract mode forever after that

I just made another save attempt and confirmed that these are the right folders on my system. A new score folder just got created at 10:14am but it is only putting the "score" PNG file in it with NO INP.

The ONLY inp saved in all the F12 attempts was the "puddin" INP that does not play back right, but seems the right file size.

Crossing my fingers it plays back for you correctly on your end. All my other RU INPs have worked in the same wolfmame135 no problem....except for this one of course.

Man...talk about "earning" a score!

It seems that score submissions may timeout if they don't upload in 30 seconds. Since I had a 6mb INP that may be the problem. It was still uploading but the system kept timing out before it finished.

RU said they made the timeout value higher and that may be the fix for my problems and those that other players are having with long recordings.

::: Post Ordeal Advice for ALL :::

Always keep your game window open at the end of a score submission and then double check to see if your score is in the cue. Try "view all scores" first. You might have to refresh this a few times before it shows up if it is a long submission.

Then go to your player name directory here and check the movies and score png files :

Then while the original game window is still open you can search your computer for the hidden arcadeox directory for score submissions which for me was at :

Users>jerky>AppData>Local>Temp>Low>arcadeox>coinop F>scores

The INP file is called "puddin".
The PNG file is called "score".

You can rename both accordingly to use. Wolfmame and regular MAME 135 playback RU games.

You can copy that file to a folder for later because as soon as you close your arcadeox game folder online that temp info goes bye bye on your computer/gets overwritten by your next session.

Some of my Mortal Kombat speedruns have been lost or unverified a handful of times too. Most of them were saved in my recording save folders. But they never made up onto the site. Some were also approved. But they never made it up onto the high score pages.
