What's a good version of Firefox to run?

My IE browser finally bit the dust lately. A browser hijacker infiltrated my IE and the problem was so bad I had no choice but to uninstall IE completely off my PC. I also figured that might have been what has caused alot of my problems trying to make the games on this site work. The browser hijacker made everything run slow.

So now I'm looking at installing Firefox. I am aware the newest version doesn't allow ArcadeOX to run. So I've installed a really old version(3.0?) and it was able to download ArcadeOX. Now my problem is when I try opening a game it would cause this version of Firefox to crash and close. I feel I'm getting a little warmer to getting the games back on my PC,but was wondering what's the best old version of Firefox to use to make the games work?

Sorry to hear about the hijacker - thankfully I've only ever had to deal with one really bad one, but it was REALLY bad. I continue to use 43.0.2, it's one of the last versions to support ArcadeOX.

It talks about previous versions, as well as disabling auto-updating and other issues. Let me know if you still have problems after getting a different version of FF.

3.6 works as well with all platforms on the site, It may say it poses a security threat but that is just because its an older version

Thanks for the suggestions! Right now I am actually trying out several older versions of Firefox. I've got the games back and running on Firefox 7.0 today. Only problem now is that they are still playing very choppy,ugh.

So what suggestions does anybody have to get the games to run smooth again Trying to run some system scans now.

Anyways I did try to reinstall IE 11 but it won't let me. I even went as far as to contact Windows support chat and those idiots are useless af. Haven't solved my problem and want $$$ out of me. SO I've decided to go completely without IE,at least on this laptop.

Noticed just now, the home consoles work great,but it's the coin-op games that are running choppy Help I wanna play the arcade games soo bad. The home console games aren't as good imo! I already have some of them at my house lol.

Off-topic but like to mention I do own a Vectrex.

Browser shouldn't have anything to do with choppiness. IE loads the games faster but after loading everything is the same for all versions.

Seems like most of them are still playing choppy. I can open them up but then they act very slow and the music keeps skipping.

Like just now I opened up Double Dragon but upon the title screen on the music and the movement of the characters keep skipping. The only games I noticed that are ok are Turbo-Grafx16 games and the Dig Dug coin-op. Everything else skips and are currently unplayable on my laptop.

UGH not sure what the problem is... I reread the other thread I made and did all the steps suggested by some people. No matter how many times I reboot they're still slow. I even ran a virus scan and lowered my CPU usage. I might have to get another PC but I dont get how I got them to work smoothly before.

I have never had luck with fire fox my self , but that is just me . I always try to go back wards from the last thing I downloaded . I had a issue with fire fox probably clicked on a bad link but , my computer was very slow also then it locked the screen so I went back wards and removed fire fox , been using explorer ever since . SSD are pretty awesome just installed one on my lap top .

I gave up on Firefox, I use ie for playing games, and Chrome for browsing.

I just set up a new PC, with Win7 and FF, ver 38.0.1
, in order to play my fav arcades here at RU....
Managed to install the arcadeox 1.6, but no way to load a single game, not even the tiniest Coleco game...keep on getting the "Error: Game did not load."
Any hint...?!

If you are setting up a PC just for here then IE is better than FF.

Did you restart FF after installing?

Actually I just solved the problem. I just traded my laptop with my roommate's which works 100% with this site. I'm running on Win8 now and using FF and it runs really fast. I've never seen the games play this smooth and fast. Also IE on this machine has no issues.
