Registration Cutoff

Just going to start a discussion thread on this here with my reply to Wolf.

I understand this always happens, and I'd be fine with an extra week. However, I think we can help people not get too butt hurt and prevent people waiting intentionally to sign up by adding the following caveat: "If 3 or more reps veto late a late addition (joins after 6/2, they either don't play OR may be asked to join a different team for the sake of fairness." I highly doubt we will have to use it, but that way we have it if we do run into a problem.

I really don't want to have to separate friends from each other since that is a big part of a fun, casual, team competition. So, I really hope this doesn't cause an issue. In the meantime, I have already made a few posts and started sending direct messages to remind people to register. That's all we can do to for now to reduce late sign-ups and associated drama, so please do your best to get people to sign up for some team, even if they aren't sure about whether or not they can actually play.

Hoooooooooo,

Personally, I don't feel strongly one way or another since we're not doing a draft of any kind. However, there is a worry about bringing "ringers" on after the games are selected. Having said that, there have been a few occasions where I've joined late just because I didn't know about a competition. So... yeah. I don't feel strongly one way or the other.

About the "include all" aspect, to extend (new players) it would be good.
In the other hand, with the final game list, some teams would try "recruit" master players in some games to join, it's no good.
Well, my overall opinion is "don't extend"!

Looks like DKF is generally against allowing late sign-ups, unless they are personally assigned by you to the team which most needs players, or they are assigned to teams randomly.

I can see the merits of both, tbh. I'll go along with whatever is decided.

I don't see a problem with that, it is a long competition so first week sounds OK.

yeah for the first week sounds fair to me

hat's fine by me - some people may not know of it until they realise a friend is playing, or see that a comp is active - then may want to join. But i think a week is enough, it gives each team enough time to build some hype, and prospective players a chance to see what's going on before making a decision.

We have it a bit hard here at GameEx because we're new blood on the global comp stuff, so i am all for giving late joiners at least some chance

I have no problems if you guys accept new team members (no switching !) during the first week of the tournament

Re: Registration Cutoff

I like the idea of late players being randomly assigned to a team based on number of players. They could be used to even things out. So no direct recruiting, but people could join and be assigned by Wolf.

Hi wolf! I suppose you are busy... but...

Please change the team of these guys: Carnage and gomas, from RetroVicio/ArcadeSpain to MARP team, as we chatted before and they posted there:
