Suggestions to improve the site

I think that something that would really improve the site is for the site to display recently added games, as well as top recommendations. I haven't seen that Earthbound Zero / Bomberman page change since I joined!

So anyway, I figure that a front page that displays recommended games or recent news would be nice. Anything else?

I'm pretty sure the frontpage is gonna be fixed when the site is updated eventually. But yeah, been the same screen for me too for along time. I just go right to recent posts.

I go right to recent posts or the game menu. I don't ever see the homepage.

I currently am working on a new version of the site that will replace this one. So I don't spend much time changing the current version.

I have lots of ideas to improve the site as a whole but I don't have many ideas for the homepage. If you have any ideas let me know.

recently added is in advanced search, just use the drop down bar.

and top rating is in statistics, game menu.

as for the front page i say the best game by popular demand for each system.

i.e Sonic (info about it here) then have Try this series and other games on the Sega Genesis!

I think it would be a good idea to put some of the lists from the current statistics page such as recent scores, top 5 or ten champs, longest scores, and highest rated on the homepage, as well as recently added games or news or updates.

On the next site I think I will have a blurb about what you can do here. A list of current contests. A list of stats (champions, top games, new games.) And some hand picked popular games and some underrated games.

For the time being though. I am not going to work too hard on current version of site. What do you think about replacing the current homepage with the game menu? - No homepage, just games. Until new site and new homepage are complete.

I think that would work fine for now, but maybe you should put the "about retrouprising" thing at the top somewhere.

maybe have a list of admins and mods somewhere on the site? i know when i first joined i only thought Hobbes, Sabby, and Kong were staff.

plus anyone can edit thier custom member title to Moderator..

Maybe custom titles can be autioned off and if no one offers higher in the next hour, you get it.

I think that what would work well is that if there were an 'if you played this game, you may like these games' feature. For example, if you played Sonic for Genesis, then there could be another 3 or 5 or whatever number of other games that are top rated and play like Sonic (perhaps from the same system, like Ristar (I guess) perhaps not, like Mario).

y'see, the problem with that is (and i have seen this happening), that people will stop using the forums. they will only use the chat feature, and to be honest it would ruin this site. sorry to ruin your idea sez

i do have to join and agree with you squall the chat rooms are not a great way to go plus to much that is not good (i.e. language,) can happen with a rolling chat. but i dont think that it would ruin the site tho, plus i would think that probally would lag the system down as well lol..

We had a chat room on here or onVGP before. IT had the exact opposite effect. No one used the chat room after the first day or two.

The majority of us are not logged on at the same time.

How about Counting under post count for how many errors or descriptions added? Maybe the same for enabling/disabling games?
