The end of 13 years of school.

So ya.. while i am typing this i am in my final class of school ever.. i don't have to take exams it seems i got exempted in pretty much all of them.. but for the people who have graduated, how did you feel when you knew you didn't have to go to school anymore? I plan on joining my current boss with his Arcade store project in the near future but thats about it. Will i regret not giving high school its fullest extent or not?

oh well.. 30 more min until its over..

side note: boy this keyboard is crappy =/

I felt somewhat conflicted. I was glad to get out of there, but at the same time, I had gotten comfortable there and knew things would get much harder. It feels good to get on with your life, though. I can't believe it's been two years already.

Depends on why you are not giving school a full chance. If you are blowing off school so you can smoke pot all day in your mom's basement then yeah, you will regret it when you wake up 10 years later and realize you are still doing the same thing. If you are blowing it off because you have a good plan that doesn't require more school or because you want to spend some time figuring out who and what you want to be before taking the next step then you probably will not regret it. Traveling, starting a career, finding something you care about or going to college are all good options when you are 18. Goofing off and doing nothing while your parents or the government take care of you are poor choices that you will regret.

I think taking a year off before jumping into college is normally a good idea. I think 18 is too young to know the direction you want the rest of your life to head. Don't use the year off to do nothing though. Try new stuff. Come up with a long term plan (even just a vague one) that you like.

I've actually been thinking of my future for like the past year, where i will be, what will i do, those kinda of stuff. My first two plans are to first get a car (which i am saving for now) then take the government exam to see if i can get a government related job. Until then, i was thinking i would work at my theaters to save money, and most likely when and if my boss does make that arcade hes been talking about i will help him run that until i am ready to move forward.

I never skipped school my whole life, i am just wondering what if i missed out on something (i'm not participating in graduation or celebrating it) that i want to repeat? What if i made a foolish mistake and i can't go back to live it again.

Its just too much of a bother, i am not one to do stuff like that, i find it boring and not worth my time.

Prom? Don't make me laugh. Why would I want to do that?

Just don't regret your decisions, Tails. If/When you are thinking of the things you missed and wished you had done, just remember that when it happened you wern't interested, and there was a good reason.

It all depends on the kind of person you are. I was glad to be a part of my proms, graduation, etc. It was the last few moments you got to spend with your friends from school before everyone goes their separate ways in life. I keep in touch with a few people and one of them is still my best friend from high school. Like I said before, it all depends on the type of person you are and the people you hung out with.

Kind of on the same lines - go to your school reunions if you can, they're a blast.

I will probably go to a reunion (isnt the first one in 5 years?) but anything else i probably won't do, most kids in my year are either snobs or people from the hood who i don't relate with, unlike people from my work and here are awesome. TMT you are correct, thanks dude, hopefully i won't regret stuff like sleeping in class because i was bored.

But, i did get some news.. while my mom is getting her foot surgery, i will have to take two months off work to take care of her. most likely all of July and August. I guess i get one final summer..

@Sabby: just a quick question, but do you regret anything? Such as bad grades, smarting off to a teacher.. i think i partially regret not staying in algebra 2 even though trying my best i couldn't get past an F.

No, not really. I was your typical "middle of the road" kind of person. Not cool enough for the cool crowd, not smart enough for the "nerd herd", not athletic enough for the jocks, but I was accepted by all of those groups (had a car, had a girlfriend, 3.45 GPA, ran track). But I also was in a graduating class of less than 200, so everyone knew everyone else. I didn't pop off in class, I just did my thing and then went right to the local state university.

i left school when i was like 12-13
and live independently ever since
i had to, school wasnt bad - life was though
i school people would bully me because i was different
im a manc and they were all scousers
i just egnored them, because it hurts them more that way

i do miss school
your friends change after school
as you and them start doing your own thing

im in college now though - in my second year doing video/animation/audio production

oh yeah by the way
we dont have proms in the UK
so not fair

(everyone would proberly end up fighting enyway)

Damn this topic confused me at first. MJ saying he's not in high school yet NT and TNT saying they just recently came out of it. I also thought I remembered Tails being older than this. Sez posted. Damn I was so lost until I saw the bump post. I was starting to feel so old, again.

I didn't answer last time but I wanna say don't worry about missing high school stuff. I went to graduation, class trip and a couple proms but it wasn't a big deal. I'm glad I went but it's not the end of the world. I don't even keep in touch with any of those people now anyways.

you missed the experience, but that is really based on what you make out of it. if you would have just sat there like a robot, then no you didn't miss anything.

i have had three graduations, high school was fun, got to crack jokes, hide a water pistol, coughed a loud *cough*cheater*cough* when the salutatorian was recognized after she see got busted for plagerizing earlier in the year.

college was fun, was drunk. the college president and i were buddy-buddy so we shared a joke when i got my diploma.

grad school graduation was a complete and total waste of time. i would have skipped that one if i could do it again. neither of my parents came. i basically wanted to look pretty in my graduation gown and hood and get my picture taken. to this day, i can't find that picture.

Like jim said it only matters if you would've enjoyed it. If you didn't get along with many of them or didn't care then it probably would've felt forced and annoying.
