Edit: I registered Hobbes and Brody. I haven't played MK online at all. I gotta say, online play just isn't the same when you can't talk to who you are playing with.

I wish Nintendo would just give in and add a headset, even if you could only talk to your "friends".

Any ethernet cable connects directly to the Wii and to your modem should work.
