What is YOUR favourite Game Console?

I would like to ask everyone this: What is your favourite game console(s) of all time? For myself, I would say the Super Nintendo, GameBoy Advance, and the Gamecube. Yes, I know that they are all Nintendo consoles, but they have (and still are) delivered me lots of fun (and blisters. Ouch!)

Well, I really love the SNES, but I will stay with the NES, I have a LOT of amazing memories with that console than with anything else (and with anything I mean ANYTHING, not only consoles), I consider the NES - SNES era like the golden age of videogames, games focused only on gameplay.

I agree. Not much of a fan of the current franchises we have like the PlayStation and the Xbox.

Objectively I think SNES is one of the best consoles ever but I didn't have one as a kid so I have no nostalgic attachment to it.

My personal favorites in order which are heavily influenced by nostalgia and what I played as a kid are
1. SMS
2. Genesis
3. 3DO
4. 2-XL
5. SNES

N64 is my least favorite because for me it marks the end of fun games and the beginning of poorly implemented 3D over game play.

PS2 and SNES are pretty much interchangable as my #1 & #2 console. It really depends on how I'm feeling at the moment.

Super Nintendo is my favorite console without question. #2 is Gamecube. After that it's up in the air. Unfortunately I've only ever had Nintendo consoles. I really would want to get a PS2 at some point, but it hasn't happened yet. I never did have any interest in any of the Xbox consoles. They never looked appealing to me.

Even without the whole 3D thing, it's an absolutely terrible system.

I 100% agree on this. I dislike how everything is focused on graphics and not game play.

That's just your opinion. Focusing on graphics is the minority despite what people claim. The tools that are worried about that are ridiculed on the current gen forums I browse.

To me, I agree with Kong, it's like PS/Xbox focus mainly on graphics/other media than gaming.

Sure you can post it but you aren't immune to criticism and neither is Kong. Both of you are exaggerating and it seems like you're both out of touch with the current gen. I'm very much not and I am telling you why I think you guys are wrong.

Gaming is one of the only subjects that entertains me consistently. I read about gaming, mostly current gen, daily. I even read about games/genres I hate and will never play. I'm not claiming to be an expert on anything I'm just saying I'm pretty well read on the current gen and I play lots of games from it.

I might as well reply to the topic now.

2. NES
3. PS2

The first two are just a given for most retro fans. SMS and Genesis aren't bad but if we're being real we all know they got blown away by Nintendo in those battles. PS2 was like the NESes, loaded with awesome games and dominated the competition for good reason.

It's not that they focused on graphics, it's that they focused on 3D, 3D that looked like ass and played even worse. Somehow managing to have no games in any of my favorite genres is what makes the N64 a piece of crap.

Wrong, for a system to be good, it needs to be diverse, and cater to all gamers needs. In that respect, N64 failed triumphantly.
