Re: Multiple game-system failures

i am having the same error. the systems seem to be failing one at a time. first nintendo games stopped working, then genesis games stopped working. receiving the same errors as above in both cases.

win 7 64bit SP1
cpu: intel core i7, 2.40 GHz
ram: 4.00gb
graphics: nvidia nvs 4200

no hardware has changed since starting to play.

performed windows update after nintendo stopped working. genesis still worked after installs, stopped working after a few reboots.

windows problem reporting now finds two video hardware errors, both look like this:
- WD-########-####.dmp [#s look like time stamps]
- sysdata.xml
- werinternalmetadata.xml

not using steam, joytokey or any joystick input. can't use any remoting software, apologies.

please advise, thanks.

***update***

downloading and running the directx end-user runtime web installer added a few updates. after restarting firefox, the games are loading again. i'll post the microsoft link in case it helps other users:

Download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Official Microsoft Download Center

Re: Multiple game-system failures

Tobias are you using Steam? If yes, close it first.

Re: Multiple game-system failures

it stopped working again. same error (directx 7.0 or higher required in kgen). i tried running the same directx update again that i did before and it didn't work.

could eset antivirus be blocking something to cause these errors? i don't have access to see myself.

Re: Multiple game-system failures

Any of the following might help.

Run Windows Update

Make sure you have the correct Video Card Driver

Uninstall DirectX - reboot - test a game - reinstall DirectX.

If you use JoyToKey turn it off.

Close Steam.

If all else fails disable directx in the emulator. If you need help with that I can write out the instructions.

I've never heard of that happening. Seems unlikely.
