I think this is a really fun and challenging racing game. I have a high score on TG from over 4 years ago that is almost the same as what the current high score is but I've always wanted to go back and try and finish it. I'm guessing at least a couple of people get the job done.

Tip: You can last an entire section (check point to check point) after you start to smoke from a collision. If you're on the last section, skip the pit and drive to the finish line. It's kind of cool to finish a race on fire.

If you have enough momentum and are close enough to the line, you can still finish the race with no time on the clock. I somehow managed to coast over the line with no time left and still move on.

-You don't need to change tires if it rains. The loss of grip is very slight, just go slightly slower in corners. Pitting for tires will just make you lose spots as the AI doesn't pit.
-The poles for the check point signs are right on the edge of the track. You can hit them when you think you are clear. Just give them slightly more room than you think you need.
-When you are going too fast for the turn the back end of the car will start to slide out. Just let off the gas briefly and get back on it and you won't spin out or lose much speed.
-Go slow in the chicanes(one turn right after the other). You won't pass anyone but you don't risk slamming into anyone either(until later levels...more on that later)
-In the last 2-3 tracks, the AI gets aggressive and will speed up in the chicanes(To a speed I don't think the player can do through them but I could be wrong) and will hit you from behind in turns as they try to pass you.
-Occasionally the cars will go 2 or 3 wide across the track essentially blocking you. When this happens there are a couple things you can do:

Slow way down and wait. They will either spin each other out or one will speed up and open a gap for you to pass.
Go around them on the rumble strips(the red and white border of the track. Risky if there are signs/obstacles on the outside of that section.

-As far as I know there are 8 tracks.

Brazil: Must finish in 80th or better
USA: Must finish in 60th or better
France: Must finish 50th or better
Monaco: Must finish 40th or better
Germany: Must finish 30th or better
Spain: Must finish 20th or better
Mexico: Must finish 10th or better
Japan: Must finish 3rd or better

-It is possible and very beneficial to finish as far ahead of the requirement as possible as it makes qualifying for further races easier. For example it is possible to finish Brazil in 57th position meaning if you didn't lose any spots on USA you'd still instantly qualify for France.

sigh. I don't like helping opponents, but most of you probably know this anyway.

-burning out at the beginning saves more time than a regular start.
-If you're like me, you don't like taking your finger off the gas. instead of letting go of the gas while turning, just lightly tap the brake. Same effect.
-I pit in for tires every time I can. The loss of grip makes you lose speed and taking turns slower makes you lose points. Positions are too easy to get back to sacrifice points for. (It really depends on the level though. ie: If it rains in France, don't bother)
-It's possible to get 1,000,000 points in the first level
-It's possible to get up to 750,000 points in the second level
-It's possible to start Spain in 1st position. If you've done this then you've pretty much won as long as you can make the time. (excluding an explosion, but that usually guarantees you won't make time)
-If a hard turn is coming, shift into low to cut your speed fast to your desired amount.

I keep getting screwed over by a glitch in Mexico -.-
on one of the sharp right turns, if you're too far to the right it'll just fling you forward. Throws me off every freaking time.

yeah, seen many glitches like that in the race courses.

turn where not even close to a sign or tree and you hit it...you ust have to memorize those spots and avoid being in that lane at that spot.

I finally finished the race..but wow what a crap score for doing the entire race. I don't get it really...I raced everything very well except monaco. I finished in 1st place for the race even...yet only 4.8 mil? I almost have had that score entering the last race. I was right on pace with many other games but managed to finish this one. I was at 4.3 mil entering last race yet ended up only 4.8? I figured it would be a 5.2 run.

anyway...nice to finish it finally....now if I can get a good monaco run together with the other courses...look out. it gave me rain in monaco that game so Im fortunate I even finished it.

I havent even had a go at this yet but these sort of games are within my interests.

Yeah, you get almost no bonus points for finishing the final race, it's really weird. When I set my high score of ~5.9 million I believe I was already at 5.5 million when I started the final race.

Rain is completely random. It can rain only once through all the courses, or it might rain on half of them. No way to tell until it starts.

I would like to alter one of my tips. Changing tires for rain is a good idea on some courses but not all. If there are a lot of sharp turns it's better to pit for tires, if there aren't you don't really need to.

think the max likely is just slightly above 6.2 mil. I blew 50k each on 2 collisions during the races...so perhaps near 6.3 is possible...if not even 1 contact and lucky on when rain hits.

This is a cool game! I think I'm up to 4m or so. Remember it from when I was younger - lots of fun! But Monaco is tricky to do at pace...

Continental Circuit - Videogame by Taito

A couple of interesting things I just learned about this game. The proper title is Continental Circuit as shown on the side art of the game. But a translation error caused Circus to show on the title screen.

Also, this game can be played in 3D. A guy in our arcade club got a pair of glasses off ebay and I guess it works great. Would be cool to check out.
