SNES images are far too small. Axelay is unplayable.

It is troublesome to play any games similar to Axelay with your currently-small SNES system images. You should upgrade the size to a minimum of 1024 x 768, if not 1280 x 1024. This would allow much better gameplay of games like Axelay where enemies can come in on your six and you'd be able to avoid a collision glitch with a larger system image. I know that the minimum score for a single run on Axelay should have been 350,000 by now with the proper size!

The graphics on intensive games like Contra III: The Alien Wars, Axelay, U.N. Squadron, Gradius III and Super Mario All-Stars should be at a much larger depth than it is now. This is making these great games unbeatable by those who know these games best. Thanks kindly in advance.

Current game depth: 512 x 225

Requested game depth: 1280 x 1024

Window is realizable.
Alt+Enter = Full Screen.

Guys, you've got it backwards. The MESS ROMs should have a higher maximum screen resolution.

No, you are wrong.
The 'resolution' of a game is not dependent on any ROM size or feature. It's based on the operation of the original hardware.

The original NTSC SNES console runs at either 256 or 512 pixels horizontally (game selectable), and 224 pixels vertically, progressive.

MESS is an emulator that focuses on accuracy.
It does not allow increasing the internal render resolution of its systems.
This won't be fixed by a ROM swap.

Furthermore, the reason Axelay doesn't have a higher score, is because the game is broken in the current build of MESS on site. Stage 1 will play fine, but stage 2 has the scrolling platforms in the space colony drawn in the wrong place or simply invisible. The collision hitboxes might be miscalculated as well. In any case, you will crash by not being able to see the platforms.
Again, this is a MESS emulator problem, not fixable by simple game swap.

I too would love to do a 3-loop clear of the game, but it's not going to happen. I suggest you play it on your own real console or another emulator.
