Is it allowed to use turbo button in score mode?

the title pretty much sums it up...
Some games require a lot of button tapping, and those are the kind of games that break the controller. I had turbo button on my old system as well, it wasn't nes, it was called 'terminator'.

Rule 2 section 13 states that isn't allowed. Basically has to be you yourself hitting the buttons and not something else like turbo.

Do NOT use controllers with Autofire or SlowMo buttons.

yeah, but autofire is something else, that's when you don't even press the button,
and i'm not sure what slowMo is...

It is more difficult to catch turbo fire than probably any other cheat but we have caught people doing it before.

I changed the rule so it would be more clear.

Slow Mo buttons work just like Auto Fire except they repeatedly press the pause button instead of a fire button which causes the game to play slower.

I hate to play devil's advocate, but I wonder if the PCE / TG-16 system should be an exception to this rule based on the fact that the stock controllers support Turbo-Fire.

Other systems didn't have this built in by default so I agree it shouldn't be allowed there.

I think that it should be acceptable in this case.

Auto Fire and Turbo Fire controllers are not acceptable in any score submission.

Regardless of the fact that the original console had them as stock controllers? To me that's the equivalent of not being able to use a random coin-op shmups built in auto-fire.

1. Nearly all systems of that era had add on controllers with turbo. So the fact that TG16 came bundled with one isn't much different than a kid getting a NES and turbo controller under the same Christmas tree.
2. 99% of RU users don't have access to a turbo controller. Allowing 1% to use them is very unfair.
3. The TG16 turbo controllers had an off switch. Even if you were using a brand new factory default TG16 set up you would still have to turn turbo on. Similar to how Contra came with a 30 man cheat, but you have to turn it on.

If a game has turbo on by default then you can use it but you can not use any addons to access it. Example Raiden will just let you hold down fire.
