Chat is temporarily offline for a few days.

While you wait you can use this chat.

The chat user names on the temporary site are not directly linked to our database. Someone can spoof a user name and pretend to be someone else. So don't automatically trust people are who they say they are.

try using an IRC program to register with the chat. i had to since my ip got banned l3

It's far more better. But you get no notifications if you're say off page and whatnaught.

It should beep when new messages come in and make the title of the tab scroll and the bottom bar should highlight the conversation.

The chat bar isn't bad.
I kind of like the option to chat with just one specific person in addition to the chatroom.

You can TOTALLLLY sync the users from the RU db with an irc channel. IRC is so much better FYI. You can create a nick serve too. And maybe everyone doesn't want to use the same handle ? I don't use fungusman on irc, are there serious people retarded enough on this board to play the old "Guess who I am HUEHUEHUE" game ? Your IP address etc are public on irc anyway,

There are people who have done that as a small joke, including myself. I think you might have been a little quick to imply that anyone who would have tried it is a social retard.

Anyways, the chat bar is neat, but I definitely feel like there is less effectiveness when presenting myself as ready to chat. It would be better if I saw it used more, I guess.

I've barely used it but I have a few questions.
1. Can I ban someone from it? I didn't see an option.
2. Can you set it so you show as offline when you log in by default?
3. Is there anyway to check messages after refreshing the page?

That last one is because I noticed it said new messages and when I refreshed the page they were gone. I know a couple were from Tails but I'm not sure about all of them.

I very much dislike it. I have found it very glitchy; sometimes I randomly get logged out, sometimes I don't receive notifications, and sometimes the Online list doesn't show anyone on so I can't talk to anyone.

I liked the IRC chatroom best. It looks minimalist but it grows on you.
