Bomberman world records

Looking at the world record scores for Bomberman-NES, Bomberman-TG16 and Bomberman 2-NES, it's obvious that they were gotten by bombing the portal multiple times at the end of each stage. I just wanted to make sure it was okay for me to do this before I tried for any of them.

Since there is a time limit and there is an inherit danger to bombing the portal if you aren't careful I personally don't see a problem with it.

I have seen world record runs before and this is definitely the technique I see used to maximize points.

Any other Game Mods want to chime in on this?

Timer? Then it should be good to go. I'm not very familiar with these series, so I don't know if you get lives for increased points and what not. Just remember that if you do get lives for doing that, you'd better not die and start the same level all over again and repeat the portal trick.

I know Twin Galaxies allows portal bombing due to the timer.

Correct. But also only if you cannot gain extra lives by increasing your score using this method. This ensures it can only be done for a limited amount of time, and is therefore named point pressing instead of leeching.

The one I have the record for I don't think you could get more lives. Plus they usually have a 3-5 life max rule for most games.

OK, so every time the score rolls over in Bomberman NES it goes back to 900,000,000 instead of 0 like most games. So to whoever has the misfortune of watching my 5 hour long video: please keep a close eye on the score. I believe the score rolled 5 times which would be over 1.4 billion. Thanks.
