Re: What's the best Earthbound game?
Aren't there more? Mother was released in Japan and never in North America. Mother 2 was released in NoA as Earthbound. There also was Mother 1 + 2 but I don't know if they were translated to NoA or not.

Re: What's the best Earthbound game?
No there was only 3 of them, Mother 1, (Earthbound Zero) Mother 2, (Earthbound) and Mother 3. Out of the 3, i like Earthbound more.

Re: What's the best Earthbound game?
I know we had a long and confusing discussion about this on chat a few weeks ago lol
But I thought Earthbound was Mother 2, and Earthbound Zero was Mother 3?

Let me put in the order of the three games:
Earthbound Zero=MOTHER
Earthbound=MOTHER 2
Earthbound 2=MOTHER 3

Re: What's the best Earthbound game?
Mother 3 on the GBA was fantastic, but it's been a while since I've played it and I never did finish.
I wasn't really interested in the other two but they did look enjoyable based on what I played.

Re: What's the best Earthbound game?
I love all of them, no doubt, but mother 3 always seems to be the one I go to when I think of the series, It's just much more polished then the other two.

This. I like to think of Mother 3 as the Final Fantasy VI of the series.
Also, welcome to Retro Uprising ya' Star-Man. Enjoy your stay.

Mother 3 is the best one by a few inches, play both.

Me too... Really, If I had to pick one moment that really genuinely makes me cry is the part when Flint gets the letter from his wife. I know there are so many sad moments, but you knowing the letter already along with what is going on at that very moment, plus the great music makes it the one moment that stands out to me.

I sobbed at that part too, but I found it a bit strange when after Claus breaks flint out of jail ( After a super long wait)Flint just walks out and nobody seems to notice that he is a criminal.
I didn't mind it too much, but it did ruin the effect just enough to keep it from my number 1 spot.
Oh yeah, and the sunflower part was like putting a puppy dog to sleep, I had to save it and turn it off or my heart would have exploded.

He was only thrown in there so that he could stay in a controlled environment while he dealt with the trauma. Once he cooled down, there was no need to have him taken back in.
Anyways, those first couple of notes starting off the piano song that plays during Flint's rage scene always make my heart sink. The way the whole thing plays out is very heart wrenching, and the people behind the presentation deserve any praise that they get.

Re: What's the best Earthbound game?
Yeah, that was no less then epic.
Strangely though, the one tune I like the most is back beat battle, for whatever reason.

Re: What's the best Earthbound game?
Earthbound simply because it is the only one I played in English.
