Games by Psikyo studio

Hello all,

Just wanted to point you in the direction of a couple of games I've been playing and really enjoyed. The thing they share in common is they are both made by a company called Psikyo, if anyone is familiar with them (I wasn't). Actually, they share another thing - they are both fun shootemups.

The first is called Gunbird. You can choose from five characters - all have different levels of speed and firepower. Loads of big enemies, tons of powerups, it's great. The ending is very humourous.

The second is called Strikers 1945. Again, this one gives you aa variety of planes to choose from (Mustang, Spitfire etc) and again, loads of powerups and big enemies. Absolutely manic at times with the amount of bullets you have to dodge but very enjoyable. Very quirky as well - battling with a giant space crab was a particularly memorable moment!

I wondered if anyone had recommendations for similar games or knew anything else by the studio?

It's not worth playing Mahjong just to see nudity, google is quicker and better. Mahjong is lame.

Mahjong as it was intended is pretty cool, mahjong as the tile-matching game middle-aged women play on their computers, is not so cool.

That said, I don't understand mahjong all that well, but just well enough to where I could follow a game.

I can't even fake my way through it so naturally I hate it. I think it's overrated like crazy.

Is it? I don't hear much about mahjong.

Whenever I go to a store that sells PC games, I look for mahjong games that are not tile-matching. I have yet to succeed.

Maybe not so much anymore but it used to be really popular in the casual PC market.

Samurai Aces isn't bad either. Not quite as good as Gunbird but not bad at all.

I know I am being redundant, but I am also a bit confused here.

That isn't the mahjong that interests me.
The solitaire one bothers me, it bothers me that everyone drops the "solitaire" part of it.

Mahjong is pretty cool actually although I don't play it often. Most of my friends just aren't interested It's real popularity in the far east stems from it being a game that's good for gambling apparently. I have a set of tiles and they're beautiful things too.

I can appreciate them artistically, because I've seen some really nicely done ones, I just can't get into the game itself. No biggie.

It is one of the more common gambling games in Japan. There are apparently quite a few mahjong parlors run by the yakuza.
The tiles are amazing, they have a lot of intricate detailing.

Actually it's not as bad as others I've heard of. It's got some homosexual themes but it's pretty tame imo.

Well some of it is deserved. When you have two stereotypically buff gay dudes in thongs as your main protagonists you open yourself up for it. Also putting the title "Legend of the holy protein" doesn't help.

yeah. but besides that, I just feel that some of the newer games are poorly made shock-gimmicks.

Oh for sure. But you can't blame them when the whole series is pretty tongue in cheek. There's a gay joke in there somewhere.
