Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
Starting this August, every superhero title under the DC Comics label is experiencing a reboot. Not just any reboot--those happen all of the time. This is a serious reboot. Every single hero book is going to start again at issue #1. That means FIFTY-TWO books will experience a near-simultaneous relaunch. And yes-everybody's getting a new costume. Unfortunately, some titles won't make the cut, but you can't make a Super Omelette without breaking some Super Eggs. Or so says Super Lenin, the Space Communist robot from the future who I just made up and think should have his own book come the DC house cleaning.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
At least this won't be touched by Hollywood. They tend to mess the stories up. I wonder how this will affect the prices for all the older comics.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
I think it's a horrible idea and it shows how desperate DC is becoming. Superman keeps failing so they recently changed his story to make him renounce his US citizenship in favor of being a "citizen of the world". The only other character they have with any success is Batman and Chris Nolan said this will be the last he'll work on, meaning another reboot after Dark Knight Rises probably.Green Lantern is coming out and looks to be good but who knows if the hype will pan out.
I predict much fail with this project. Can't wait to see the horrendous attempts at updating the costumes, should be good for some lols.
Long live Marvel, down with DC.

Would you like to see Marvel buying the rights to Batman?

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
Honestly no. I would be concerned that they would either change him or not dedicate enough effort to him. DC being full of failures leaves plenty of time and effort for Batman to be the man, like he should be. Honestly they should just kill off Superman(for real this time) and focus on Batman.

I thought his name was Sea-man?
But no I really can't think of any non Batman characters I like from DC. They're all just so unsympathetic and corny.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
GL bugs me because he's kind of a lazy super hero, like superman. He's just basically all powerful. He can make whatever he wants out of his rings green powers and it comes off as more comical than comic book.

Yeah but he can just make a green schoolbus if he wanted to, for example.

This is a real mistake on DCs end. This is why I like Marvel better.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
I don't follow DC comics but a friend of mine told me that yellow being a weakness was retconned(if that's the right word for rewritten) as just in his mind. So it was a legit thing before but now it's not, he's all mighty and boring.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
At least Green Latern doesn't have man at the end of his name like most of DCs creations. He also has battles out in space so he's more interesting than superdude.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
Wow how brave of them! Superman got his belt and speedo changed and nothing else.
Black Batman is just a new character, Batwing. They're making 11 Batman spin offs and he's just one of them. Amusing that Superman isn't getting this kind of attention though, Batman ftw.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
Seems strange that black batman takes place in Africa.
I think super heroes are supposed to wear their underwear on the outside. It is how you can tell they are super. I don't approve.

The Batman of Africa, seen here on the cover of his first issue gliding past some pyramids, is spun out of Grant Morrison's Batman, Incorporated, an ongoing series about Batman setting up fellow bat-based superheroes around the globe.
|
So it's not even a reboot. But they'll still probably be rebooting Batman before this is over.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
Call it a hunch, Bruce Wayne's parents will still be murdered...Superman will still be from Krypton, there will still be a Justice League. It really isn't that big a deal. The way I see it, DC is way behind, Marvel has already done this when they made the "Ultimates" series.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
I don't even like comics but I know they need to bring a lot more than just some skin and custom color changes.
Superman can't have one weakness and nearly every super power and disguise himself by just putting on a pair of glasses. That would be a horrible reboot. Although, I doubt it is very unlikely.

Re: Rebooting all DC comics to issue #1
Superman would be awesome if he dropped the Clark Kent thing, just walked about all the time as Superman and spent his days teabagging the human race.

But they really don't. Like anything else money talks and fanboys will eat this up. It may not be as huge as they hope but they have plenty of people who will just buy it regardless. Like the people who wanna boycott MW2 but can't stop playing it.
