Yabba Dabba Don't.
The Flintstones | Inside TV | EW.com
Seth MacFarlane(creator of Family Guy) will be rebooting this series for Fox. I'm not a fan really but I think this is a very bad idea and it will make MacFarlane and Fox look bad.
Before anyone brings it up they already made a point of saying it will not be Family Guy with dinosaurs-

he said the show has to keep up with the times but some things will remain familiar for old fans. “The characters will look the same but the only thing that will change is the stories,” he said. “What’s the [prehistoric] version of an Ipod?

Still a bad idea. Don't fix what isn't broken.

Okay, this better be a Joke. I went from loving that Mcfarlane guy, to being indifferent, to kinda disliking his stuff, this will push me over the edge into pure hatred.

Re: Yabba Dabba Don't.
@Elrod- apparently MacFarlane has always loved Flintstones and this is like a dream come true for him. I assume Fox wants to do it for purely monetary reasons. Zero creativity and effort needed and riding a huge brand name for all it's worth. They probably know it's a huge gamble but they can afford to lose on it. If they win they'll be making money like it's being printed in their basement.
@steven- as far as I know it's serious. I saw an article on CNN about it and it linked to the page I linked here.
@Joz- what's makes you say that?

I know i'm not happy with this decision. I may not have been around when it was originally aired but i have watched the Flintstones over the years. i hope Fox reconsiders this

Re: Yabba Dabba Don't.
My major beef with it is how it might mess up animation history. Kids born in the year 2000 and up might end up thinking "The Flinstones sucks", then they will tell their kids and so on. I worry that this sub-par Flinstones will become the definitive version. (I say sub-par because it won't be better, the best it can be is a good impersonation.)

Re: Yabba Dabba Don't.
Because McFarlane has just been able to give so much writing attention to the insanely popular Cleveland Show.

@Joz- I'd like to think that's not true. We have our disagreements but from my point of view we agree just as often.

How long has it been since you've seen an episode of the Flinstones? It may be a matter of taste, but I don't think the original show has aged well, at all. I'm not saying that this show will be better, but the old cartoon was essentially an animated, campy sitcom.

Re: Yabba Dabba Don't.
It just happens that DB and I are both vocal about the things we disagree on.
I don't think he can screw up the Flinstones because that show sucked anyways in my opinion. It can only be better.

People probably said the same thing before they made the live action movie. Look how that turned out.

First I remember hearing about this. I do think it'll probably be a let down but the one picture I saw looked ok. What makes you think it will be bad on an epic scale?
Btw I also just found out that the creator of Thundercats was murdered. Apparently he had cancer, got a tumor removed and then it came back. Because of his poor treatment due to lack of insurance a group was formed to help him get better treatment(apparently he was broke). Then he disappeared along with his roommates, one who was later charged with his murder even though they didn't find all his body parts. Seems like he won big on a lottery ticket and that might've caused this. Pretty sad either way.
@steven- Flintstones was lame when I was kid. It was old and corny. I'm not saying that's a majority opinion but I know most people I grew up with felt the same. It couldn't compare to more modern cartoons.

Well the fact they removed Panthro for starters. He was an integral part of the team just like Tygra and Cheetara are

Where are you getting this info from SFF? I'm not saying I don't believe you but I'd like to read up on it more.
