Games that are easy to farm in.
Quote:
|
Farming means repeatedly killing easy enemies to gain points instead of progressing naturally through a game. Farming in contests and for high scores is allowed but frowned upon and will most likely cause you to lose reputation points and be ridiculed in the forum. If you farm too much your score may be deleted. Farming takes the fun out of it for everyone.
|
DO NOT GET ANY IDEAS FROM THIS TOPIC!!! I GENERALLY DO NOT SUPPORT FARMING!!!
Post and tell me games you think are easy to farm in.

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
Hmmm well I have had the high scores farmed away from me in-
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
TMNT (NES)
please feel free to go forth and farm them away from the people that took them from me.

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
I got my Sonic the Hedgehog high score farmed away. How else could my game clear score get almost doubled?

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
I am not very familiar with Sonic games (I am not a fan) but I think Sonic games give you more points for finishing fast and therefor can not be farmed. I am not an expert though.

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
I think that for sonic three you get a huge amount of points for finishing with 9:59 on the clock. this is probably why that score is so high.

Contra, it's mostly easy to stay in the back of the screen and shoot all enemies that are coming to you, or sometimes, depending on the look of the area, you can just go under them

Well, you do get points for finishing quickly, but that is relatively minor compared to the ring bonus. Thus, it would benefit you more to take your time and collect rings, as well as destroy enemies.

That only works in Sonic 3(and most likely Sonic & Knuckles, I don't really remember).

I personally don't consider that farming at least not 100%. Collecting all of the items is not really cheating. It can be part of the normal game. Also in Double Dragon you get more points for a headbutt than you do for a punch. Choosing to only use headbutts isn't farming IMO. I consider farming to find a spot where an easy enemy respawns and repeatedly kill it when you should be moving on. Or if there was a ring that reappeared after you collected it and you repeatedly got the same ring that would be farming. Basically I think farming nearly always requires some sort of respawning item or enemy.
Also I wouldn't say the Sonic 3 9:59 clock bonus or the SMB flag bonus were farming.

There's the key right there. The only issue is when you die, your taken back to a save spot and the items respawn, would that be considered farming, there's no real cut and dry answer.
When your playing a game, ask yourself this question: "Am I going through this level to advance through the game or because I'm 2,000 points away from the high score and the respawning item that gives me 5,000 points is just ahead."
To bad Tenser hasn't been around lately. He could tell you all about farming away his Castlevania score to where he probably doesn't play the game anymore.

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
Yeah whatever happened to Tenser.
Well, you can farm in a couple of levels of Super Mario Bros. 3 specifically level 1-2 because Goomba's always come from the pipes.
It's good to be back.

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
Maybe that guy wasn't farming, but to beat my score my THAT much... I mean I squeezed every point I could out of that game. I still suspect some type of foul play. He held the previous high score, then I broke it, then he went and completely obliterated mine. Now, if he could just explain how the hell he did it, I'd drop it.
His previous score: 274080
My score: 286540
His new score:515270
How is that score even possible? If he's just plain better than me, than kudos to him, but this is just too hard to believe. I don't think even the best players in the world would be able to legitimately crack 400,000 points, let alone 500,000 points.

How could he do that without cheating? He's somehow got 16 lives as well!

What happens after you beat the game?

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
Not much. It shows the ending sequence and credits, and then the game resets. You can't recycle points from the first playthrough over to the second. As for cheats, the only one I found that could help him get that gargantuan score (unless your Genesis emulators support the Game Genie)would be the debug mode. Essentially, that allows Sonic to be transformed into various objects, such as bumpers or rings. Sonic can travel through anything when he's transformed. Also, he can insert the objects into the playing field. This would allow him to set up and collect as many rings as he wants, thus driving up his score and his lives.

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
Game Genie codes work at RU only in NES Full Mode - Not Genesis.
Debug mode and other Sonic cheats add numbers to the top of the screen which would be obvious in the score screen shot.
You get 50,000 points for finishing a level in under 30 seconds.
You get bonus points for combos - killing multiple enemies with one roll.
You get bonus points for destroying multiple blocks at once. You can get up to 30,000 points for this in Act 2 of the Marble Zone.
There are multiple invisible bonus icons near the turnstiles. Worth 100 to 10,000 points each.
There is a way to farm in Zone 1 Act 3. I won't say what it is.

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
The current Game of the Week (Totally Rad) looks very farm-able. When the contest first started for it, there were three scores posted and only the third place score was not on the first level.

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
That's true, but once you jump on a few in a row they just start giving you 1-ups, and besides, no one is ever going to beat my high score that way ;D

Re: Games that are easy to farm in.
It's easy to farm in one of the levels on Super Mario Bros.
There is a part where you can jump on a turtle constantly. I don't remember what level though?
Also, all the Fantasy Zone games(besides 3) are easy to farm in.
