Do you think Donkey Kong Jr. is really Diddy Kong

I was just wondering that is Donkey Kong Jr. from the NES game with the same name Diddy Kong from the SNES Donkey Kong Country

I'm not much of a DK fan so I looked this up. After reading about it I'm still confused.

The statement which I believe confirms the supposition that Diddy Kong is in fact Donkey Kong Jr. is at the end of the quote DB posted, taken from .. hey DB, just where is that quote from, anyway?

No, it makes sense.
You just have to break down and examine the wording.

What they are saying is that they wanted to resurrect DK Jr. as an updated version of himself, and rename him Diddy.

What they should have said was something like this:
In the end Rare decided to leave Donkey Kong Jr. as he was, and introduce the new character, Diddy Kong.

Therefore Donkey Kong Jr. is not Diddy Kong.

Ok I think I get it but then what about the Donkey Country 3 character that look like Donkey Kong Jr. but is called Kiddy Kong he look like Donkey Kong Jr. dipper and all only difference is that he has blue baby clothes

I take this to mean that they initially were going to bring DK Jr. back with a new look, but then decided to either leave him the same or create something new.
This is where the wording is odd:

I take this to mean that they went with the decision to leave DK Jr. as he was and create Diddy instead.
Like I said they should have said it in a different way, because it does contradict itself as AX pointed out.

They could have said:

In the end, Donkey Kong Jr. was left in antiquity while Diddy Kong became the new addition to the DK universe.

It's almost as confusing as trying to make sense of the Zelda series. DK was probably not expected to be as a HUGE of a hit as it obviously was and they didn't have a real plan that spanned over the years. So instead they start making crap up when they got to DKC.

Junior became Donkey Kong.
