So, did everyone see Christina Aguilera's Star Spangled Banner fail?

I just watched it and wow was that bad. I'm already not a fan of her style but I thought her vocals were grating and screechy. I heard she messed up lyrics but I'm having a hard time understanding her at parts so I dunno for sure.

Everything else is centered around particular people, isn't the anthem supposed to represent the people who run this country? Have the audience sing at least.

I was listening to her sing from the other room and wondered out loud "Did she just screw up the lyrics?" I dimissed the thought and went back to frying my homemade Jalapeno Poppers.

About 30 minutes later my brother in law got a text saying that she blew it. Hilarious! Someone already mentioned it, her voice sounded awful. To me, that was even worse than flubbing the lyrics. I like my National Anthem to be sung in it's traditional fashion.

By the way, does anyone know how long it took her to complete the song? Vegas oddsmakers had the over/under at 1:56. Everyone was saying to take the OVER.
Knowing Vegas, they probably took the bet off the board once she messed up the song.

It was under. The video I had was 1:56 in length, but she forgot parts of the song....points shaving perhaps?

It's invalid since all of the song has to be sung. It's kinda like how we judge mastery for games. If it is not complete, then you didn't master it. Same deal, if it ain't sung completely then she didn't really sing the song.

Yeah but at least Roseanne was just doing her thing. She's an obnoxious comedian who's not known for her beautiful voice, singing or otherwise. Aguilera is singer who's supposedly got a good voice.

I don't understand the Rosanne hate. She is a comedian that is famous for being obnoxious and she was singing a song that is famous for being difficult to sing. If you don't like it then hate the person that hired her. She did exactly what she was hired to do.

I agree with Carlin and probably the guy that hired Rosanne. National anthems are stupid.

I delivered a pizza to Roseanne when I was in college. She was staying at a local hotel and ordered the pizza under the name of "Jackie" or something. I'll never forget it: She ordered a medium pie with olives, mushrooms, peppers and Linguica sausage.

I went to the hotel room and BOOM, there she was, no makeup, still in her pajamas, but it was definitely her. Considering it was about 1 o'clock, I thought she must've had a bender the night before. She tipped me like 2 bucks and that was it. Fun memory, though.

As for Christina, I mentioned this earlier, but there is apparently betting controversy over the national anthem.
