Aliens (Square/Activision, Unreleased)

Did you know that Activision and Square once partnered to release a game based on James Cameron’s 1986 sci-fi action movie Aliens? Are you aware that it was released for the MSX home computer, and that a port for the Famicom Disk System was completed but never released? Do you care that a prototype copy of this unreleased FDS port was recently discovered and is available for download here?

Honestly, this is something I never thought I’d get to play. The world’s only known copy of Aliens for the FDS popped up in a Yahoo Japan auction a few months back, where it was bought by a private collector for a stupidly large sum of money. In many similar cases with unreleased prototype games, this is where the story would end.

Hey, I just went to post it here for people to play, and we don't have it!

I AM stunned and amazed at this.

Well, it looks like a pretty decent game anyways - I can't see why they didn't release it for the NES - is it really any worse than some of the LJN games out there?

I sure loved the movie; got to see a special extended version when it came out with more emphasis on the automatic sentries, the robot machine guns - massive Alien carnage.
Loved it.
I wanted to go in and personally blast them all!

Looks like a crappy game, trying to produce realistic graphics back in the day was instant failure for alot of games, castlevania did it well, this game it appears did not.

I do want to play it though.

@JG: FDS stands for Famicom Disk System, it was an ad-on for Japanes Nintendos circa 86 or maybe late 85?" it allowed to save on disk, but couldnt hold as large of a game as the catridge.

and those games aent supported, there are emulators that support it.. it's couple times it's come up here, perhaps a new donation goal Kong?

Ahh, I see now.
I suppose that makes one game this site doesn't have. {yet?}
We seem to have just about all the others though.

This has got to be one of the biggest, most comprehensive collections of videogames anywhere.

Sorry, it's just that sometimes I have to stand in awe at this site's greatness.
