Bionic Commando
In retrospect, it’s sort of startling to look back at videogame design evolution throughout the 1980s and compare it to the medium of today. Thirty years after Pac-Man and Space Invaders, games seem practically stagnant by comparison. Where they were constantly changing, experimenting, and growing throughout the ’80s, today they fall into easily defined formats, with the bulk of creative thinking consisting largely of coming up with new ways to shuffle around the details of existing genres from one to the other.

Re: Bionic Commando
I loved this game. I remember the first time I blew up Hitl..I mean Master D's face with the special bazooka. This was before Nintendo went all G on us.
Lots of good memories playing this game.

Re: Bionic Commando
Bionic Commando is awesome!
Too bad they screwed up the recent game...
At least Spencer is going into MvC3.

First time I blew up Hit I was so excited I mashed all the buttons and warped out of the level.

Re: Bionic Commando
Oh Man Steven that would SUCK!!! That shot is tricky to pull off for the first time.
I am trying to remember now if you went back into the level did you have to start the whole base over again or just start from that sequence like when you continue?

Not 100%, but I think I started right at Hit again.

Re: Bionic Commando
Bionic Commando on the NES, probably one of the greatest games ever made.
Bionic Commando in the Arcades, why the hell did I waste my quarters on this crap.

Re: Bionic Commando
I'm going to come clean. I was never interested in this game and I have tried many times to enjoy it. I just can never muster any patience to get around past any early actions.
If it were the only game I had over a period of time, it may grow on me.

Re: Bionic Commando
Don't worry DN it's not as fantastic as people are making it out to be. I liked it and it's fun but the novelty wears off quick imo.

Re: Bionic Commando
I love Bionic Commando. I also really liked Bionic Commando: Rearmed. I'm looking forward to the sequel to Rearmed. I hear you can jump. 0_0

Re: Bionic Commando
Wait, you can jump in Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2?
How will that work?

Re: Bionic Commando
Most likely you'll press a button. And you will propel off the earth into the sky. But only briefly, then gravity will take hold and you will come back down.
Just a guess.

Re: Bionic Commando
Well obviously he can't jump anywhere close to what he can do with the arm. What else could TMT say? It'll be a jump button that let's him jump a little.
I could understand not jumping in the NES one but there's no reason they should've left it out of the next gen one. It's kinda silly to have a guy who's able to be so agile but he can't hop off the ground.

Re: Bionic Commando
I guess the jump is just for enemies and small gaps, I just feel having no jump would give it the challenge the original game had.

Re: Bionic Commando
I don't think you're thinking big enough. I imagine jump will be used to help be more agile overall. I'm sure they'll incorporate tons of stuff to make it worth using for more than just a hop. Stuff like run, jump and then swing to get big distance/more height/ect.

And I feel not having partners for Belmont would make Castlevania III the challenge the original game had.
Oh wait, sometimes changed mechanics are for the better, and don't negatively impact the challenge of a game.

Re: Bionic Commando
I guess you're right, Castlevania Adventure Remake was well done with the new mechanics.
