In need of a spot of help...
I've been looking to impress this girl (aren't we all? ) and have realised that I should try magic. Works every time
I've been searching youtube, and I know a couple, but if anyone could point me in the direction of some good tricks/tutorials, I'd appreciate it.
Cheers!
P.S. Card tricks would be best, as they don't require more than a pack of cards or two, so I could do that easily

Sure you do - just not magic
Everyone's got to have their own way of doing it!

Re: In need of a spot of help...
Exactly. I just happen to be good at useless things (magic, juggling etc.) so why not use them?

Re: In need of a spot of help...
you are from Scotland so maybe they don't have it there. Basically just this Magician guy that has his own show in the states for the last 5 years or something.

Re: In need of a spot of help...
Oh. No, we don't have that. Do have magic shows here though.
I'm more interested in card tricks though, mainly because they're cheaper

He is referring to a magician over in North America named Criss Angel.

Re: In need of a spot of help...
I suggest doing one card trick and find our if she will be impressed. Talk to her to find out what she likes. If she likes juggling, teach her to juggle. If she likes card tricks, then learn harder ones. I know a trick to guess which card she picked out of 9 or 16, usually i do 16, or 25 can also work.
The most important thing is to find out if she likes that kind of stuff, because she might enjoy one, but more might annoy her. Or, if she's like me and loves cards, she'll want more.
The card trick I know:
(If you've already search you might have found it already)

Re: In need of a spot of help...
If you already know how to juggle then just teach her how. It'll take more time, be more involved, and require multiple days.
Just show her your juggling, then say how it is actually really easy and that you could teach her.

And it involves casual physical contact. Always a plus.

Re: In need of a spot of help...
Yeah, I can juggle. Not the best at it, but yes, that's another possibility!
Any kind of balls you'd recommend? Normally just use tennis balls or whatever that's just lying about the house.
I was kind of thinking of multiple different things, card tricks being the ones that I have to learn!

Re: In need of a spot of help...
I think hackey sacks are easier to learn on. They fit in your hands better than tennis balls. And hackey sacks wont cause much damage or roll away if dropped.

Re: In need of a spot of help...
Yeah, I guess. Need to find/buy some before next Wednesday then!
Any other suggestions?
I have 3 decks of cards now, one pair of duplicates and one pair with a different back for colour-changing tricks

Re: In need of a spot of help...
Ok, I've got to come out with this. I'm not sure I've ever met a chick that was impressed with a magic trick. And even if you successfully perform the magic trick, you are right back where you started and you still have to talk to the girl. So why not cut out the middle man, say hi to her and go from there.
Kong still have the best idea, but not because it involved a skill. Because teaching someone to juggle required dialogue and spending time with someone.

He's from the UK. Having all your teeth there makes you popular with the girls. Knowing a few card tricks will make you their God.

Re: In need of a spot of help...
I'm with Jim on this. I know some ladies who like magic tricks/juggling but I think that would only go so far and it certainly wouldn't seal the deal, if you know what I mean.

Re: In need of a spot of help...
I would also suggest being flexible. If your plan isn't working then improve and find a different angle. Don't stick to a script in your head if she isn't responding to it.
As long as you have the cards out you can play a game - Speed (card game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
And if you are trying to find something unusual to do then you could try to find a comedy club.
Or sneak into a mini golf place after hours so you are there all alone. The one by my house is only open for three months a year so it is real easy to sneak into and hanging out alone at night with all the giant mini golf statues is real romantic. Scope it out before hand to make sure you can get in and buy a golf club and ball from a thrift store and bring a piece of paper to stuff in the holes so you can keep your ball.
If that goes well then for the second date ask if she likes to mud wrestle.
Board games are also good for breaking the ice.

If you want to break some ice, use an ancient concoction known as alcohol. Works every time
