I think this is a good sereotype. Maybe it snows that bad further north but the ad is funny as hell.

Re: Canadian Car Chase
I laughed too the first time I saw it. But you are right, here in the lower part of BC we don't see snow like that very often. Once in awhile we get a dump, but usually it's rain, rain and more rain. :P

Re: Canadian Car Chase
I'm number 3 who lives in B.C.
but what can Canadians do?
I saw the actual chase, you see,
from the door of my little igloo.
Ok Elrod's right when they said it mostly rains here, and in truth we hardly ever get snow at all - despite the perpetuated Canadian climate stereotyping.
Having said that, Eastern Canada {East of the Rocky Mountains, that is} gets pretty severe winter weather.
Saskatchewan, Manitoba,
{ Winterpig is a special animal and lives up to its nickname}
Ontario and Quebec seem to be just as bad as the Eastern Coastal Provinces of Prince Edward Island , Newfoundland, and Cape Breton some years ...

Re: Canadian Car Chase
I remember back in 92 we had 62 inches fall over 3-4 days, after the plows did their thing, driving around Moncton was like driving a round in a maze.

Re: Canadian Car Chase
I used to live in Edmonton and yes the snow can get bad there too. The thing about the prairies is though it gets cold, it is a dry cold, so once you are indoors you can heat up really quick.
I still remember when I was in my teens at a camp here in BC there were these two girls who came up from Texas. They commented to me on how this must have been our two weeks for summer and how they would be leaving before the snow came. They wanted to know where the Eskimos were.
They were serious. We had some fun with them but we set them straight.

Re: Canadian Car Chase
Wow, it's just like the foreign people that moved to edmonton last year and were freaking over -10 C when last year it got as bad as 150 almost at one point with wind chill... And they never closed school a day in my life :-/

Re: Canadian Car Chase
Nope never closed it when I was going to school in Alberta either. Here in BC though if a little Snow falls, people lose their minds.

I live in Toronto and snow can some times get bad. Last year wasn't that bad but a few years back it was awesome.

I do. Not normally to that extent, but the police where I live are braindead enough to do such a thing if a person they were chasing got stuck and went and tried to push themselves out.
I know the police around here are that stupid, because apparently a baby cow was enough of a threat to warrant being shot with a taiser tazer one of those little guns that shoot wires that they then pass electricity through until it died, or apparently an old priest was enough of a threat to warrant being shot and killed, or a mentally challenged man with a bottle of Pepsi was apparently a big enough threat to get beat to death while his breathing was being restricted.

It was a one liter bottle of Pepsi, if I remember correctly.
As for the ad, no, I don't see many good ads like that.
