Screwattack: Top 10 Hardest NES Games

A list I'm sure Dudebro, Tenser, and Winnebagel will discuss for a while,
ScrewAttack put together a list of the top 20 hardest NES games, but what do
you think about this list?

I'm glad Super C got in over Contra, and that newer NES game looks brutal, we
should add it.

So you guys think you can beat Battletoads coop without cheating on the NES?
Those prizes look nice.

Wow, a list I can agree with!...

Except for two things.
1) Super C is not hard. Neither is Contra.
2) Hydlide is not on this list.

Hydlide is broken.

I hope WB and GG take that challenge, they could totally win that contest.

Edit: I agree with you DB, but Super C is still tougher.

I don't remember Super C as a really hard game. It's been awhile but I just remember it being fun.

I just watched the video for the first time. That's funny, GG and I have beat it on NES somewhere around 8-10 times (with losing the usual mandatory continue when the game inexplicably kills player 2 for no reason on Clinger Winger) and 2-3 times on Genesis. I wonder if the challenge is still valid. That might be fun to do.

D-Pad = Move
A = Attacking Stance
B = Magic

No broken controls here, just a romp through an impossible forest where everything in the world wants to kill you. They've probably never played it.

I didn't find Hylide hard, just really tedious. If you take your time leveling up on the first screen it makes it much easier, but it takes a long time.

The attacking is aweful in Hydlide, name one time you could actually attack an enemy without a
serious risk of getting hurt?

Never. That's the point of attacking stance, duh =P. The final boss kills you instantly if you go at it in attack mode.

When attacking the enemy from behind you take no damage.

I'm not saying the game is great, (In fact it definitely sucks.) just that it isn't that hard once you get the hang of the controls and the best way to kill things.

The challenge was issued 2 days ago.
You have to beat it in two player mode - I assume that means both of you have to be alive at the end.
You have to do it on a real NES.
You have to record it - convert it to digital - then upload to their site.
You have to be the first to do it.
You have to do it before their next top 10 list.

Actually it is possible, but not possible to beat the Clinger Winger stage on 2-player. What happens is the glitch kills all of player 2's lives. Then if player 1 beats the stage, player 2 can rejoin and finish the rest of the game. The Genesis one did not have this glitch at all.
