GAMEPLAY
Captain Commando is a side scrolling beat em' up game much like another well known title from Capcom, Final Fight. Up to two players can play at a time and have 4 different characters to choose from. The characters vary in strenghts and speed, but personally I don't see that big of a difference. It's more about the style of attack that really makes you choose one over the other. Anyways, it's a beat em' up that has you moving from left to right until you get to the boss of the stage. On the way you'll be greeted by many different types of enemies that can attack you with their fists and projectiles such as ninja stars and even something that looks like a "yoga" flame type attack.
Each character has slightly different attacks and skills. Baby Commando can grab an enemie and perform a pile driver to just about any enemy including bosses, while Mummy Commando can only toss the enemies back or simply keep on hitting them until they fall. The biggest difference is in the special attacks. Captain Commando performs "Lightning Corridor" which sends electricity to the left and right at a mid ranged distance. Mummy Commando spins like a top with his blades cutting thru anyone who dares get close. This special is very useful since you can actually move around the screen to hit the enemy. Ginzu Commando jumps up and kicks in the air with smoke around him. Kinda sucks but it gets the job done. Baby Commando has a power punch that sends enemies flying back in pain. Personally I like Baby Commando.
The leader of the "Commando" team. He not only has a tough body but a sharp brain. He wears the "Energy Glove" which discharges fire and electricity.
SOUNDTRACK
The music in the game is pretty good. It's fast with lots of "futuristic" sounds.

FINAL THOUGHTS...

Pretty good game. It's not the best of its kind (FINAL FIGHT is way better), but worth playing a few times until you finish it. Only buy this if you're a big fan boy, it's really cheap or you're looking to increase you SNES game collection.
