PS3.

Plays ps1/ps2/ps3/upgradable/can use a ton of standard usb controllers/runs linux / media player/runs emulators/2009Game of the year/multiple outputs/inexpensive game library.

All in HD, the ps3 is the ultimate system.

It's like the Phillips CDi when you think of it lol.

No I haven't. Also I haven't played it very much. I see it as the dividing point between retro games and modern games. It ushered in the 3D era of video games. Oh and that controller was horrendous.

i agree with you on that controller, there were like 3 different ways to hold it. was it made for an octopus?

Definitely not the worst, (you do know what the CD-I is right?) but I understand you don't like the controller. I know like you said it was what brought gaming into 3-D but I think there are more than enough of the classics to hold over many generations to come.

Uh, what? Are you talking about the 60$ PS3 games or is there some magical price reduction I never heard of? Wii games are 50$ normally and some are even 40$. Wii wins there.
Other than that I don't see much wrong with what you said. You did leave out the subpar online service though, 360 has it beat in that category and to most gamers that's very important.
Also you say it plays Ps1/2 games? Is that every version or just the more expensive one? I've heard the one they just dropped the price on doesn't have backwards compatibility.

I think "ultimate system" is a bold claim for the Ps3. I guess it doesn't matter since most gamers can't afford it anyways, they'll never know if that's true or not.

I kind of agree with the media player thing, it's awesome that a PS3 can play a media disc and the blu ray thing. But at the same time, I buy a console for GAMES. I have a PC that will play music, blu ray movies, emulators and everything else. But it won't play games, I don't have the graphics card or memory.

So for someone who wants a media player, sure. But for someone who is just going to play games, I don't think it's the best deal.

"Ah, your a wee man!", I knew about him before that AVGN episode.

I have heard good things from the Alien vs. Preditor game on the Jaguar,
so there are some redeming games on the console.

But the AVGN did make a point about the CD add on, why make
an add on for a poor selling video game console?

I would say technically these are the only ones that are really game consoles
Atari 5200
Atari Jaguar
Sega CD

And I would rather have any one of them then an N64.

No need to argue about it or try to change my mind, I know I am in the minority. That's where I like to be. Also when making my judgements I give/take points for being under/over rated.

I would have to say the best retro system would be the snes. It brought me into multiplayer (Super bomberman) with more than 2 people.The superfx chip and the scalling and mode 7.really got me hooked. Sure I played atari and sms/nes. But some games were just horrible with graphics/sound and gameplay. But the snes was the first system to 'wow' me alot.

The Best system hasn't been invented and would blow you away if you seen it now.

i still have my nintendo 64, (pikachu version) but like everyone else, i'll have to say it's my least favorite. the best consoles of all time would probably be out of the SNES and the sega genesis.
