If you can't do that then reboot computer, repeatedly press F8 until you are asked if you want to start in safe mode. Select Safe Mode and run the program that you just downloaded.

You should also add more space to your HD or move most of your garbage to an external HD. In my experience things start to slow down after you hit the 50% mark.
